BodyHack With Todd Sampson

###Network Ten Announces BodyHack With Todd Sampson

Coming Soon To TEN And WIN Network

Network Ten is delighted to announce that it will broadcast a remarkable and original new series, BodyHack with Todd Sampson, later this year.

Todd Sampson, adventurer and human guinea pig, will take on some of the biggest challenges of his life as he embarks on an epic exploration investigating some of the world’s most extraordinary people.

Using science as his guide, Todd deconstructs and decodes how these incredible people live, what they do differently from the rest of us and how this impacts the human body.

But, in true Todd Sampson style, he will not just observe them: he will hack into their lives and try to become them.

Filmed around the world, BodyHack with Todd Sampson features Todd facing myriad challenges, including living as a hunter-gatherer in Tanzania, stepping into the ring as a professional MMA Cage Fighter in New Mexico; and confronting his fear of open water to free dive and stride across the sea floor in Borneo.

Todd also takes on one of the world’s most dangerous jobs as a Bollywood stuntman; overcomes injury to train with the notorious French Foreign Legion deep in the Amazon jungle; and works as a Himalayan Sherpa at extreme altitude.

Todd Sampson said: “My mission was to investigate some of the most extraordinary people on the planet to see what we can learn from their lives, to better ours.

“It would be fair to say I was pushed to my absolute limit and in some cases I was lucky to get out alive. I believe we are all capable of much more than we think and this series is a celebration of that.”

I’m thinking this show would have been better suited to the ABC.But good on Ten for trying something different.

Yeah I’m surprised to see this on TEN also given Todd’s obvious connections with the ABC, he probably just had a chat to his mate & fellow Gruen panelist Howcroft to get him a deal with McGarvey to give it a go.

I could see this paired up well after an episode of Australian Survivor.

First look promo aired tonight and I have to say I’m really looking forward to watching it, especially after seeing this tonight. It can be seen here on the shows Facebook page:

This seems like an extension to his previous “Redesign My Brain” series, except with a greater focus on the physical side of the body.

In one hand I’m glad they’re finally dumping NCIS repeats (but they will have new episodes to screen by then, no?) and then on the other I would’ve thought this looked good enough to get an earlier timeslot… I guess we’ve seen from shows like HYBPA that the audience is there from 8:30-9:00pm onwards for quality new content. I’m looking forward to seeing this.

Yeah I really thought this was going to air at 7:30. Does that mean Survivor is staying put?

With TEN scheduling new Modern Family episodes on Sundays, it would appear the advanced online guide which suggested new Modern Family & Life In Pieces were going back to Tuesday nights is no longer the case.

I also thought BodyHack would air at 7.30pm instead of 9pm. It could still happen the following week.

Well Ten have a more full schedule by airing this after Survivor. If Survivor went back to 2 days and they had this on Tuesday 7.30pm it’s once again Ten just relying on one show per night to get them through. This type of show is probably more suited to 8.30pm-9pm than earlier in the night anyway and I assume will start 8.40pm some weeks if Survivor remains and has a shorter ep.

No that is true. I just wonder what is going to happen when survivor wraps up earlier than initially expected.

###Todd Sampson Takes On Mixed Martial Arts.

Todd Sampson’s BodyHack. Premieres Tuesday, 4 October At 9.00pm.

Todd Sampson’s BodyHack sees the adventurer and human guinea pig take on the biggest challenges of his life to investigate some of the world’s most extraordinary people and try to unlock their secrets.

To truly understand them, Todd will not just observe them, he will hack into their lives and try to become them.

In the first episode of this new compelling series – which premieres on Tuesday, 4 October at 9.00pm on TEN – Todd travels to the best Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight camp in the world: the Jackson Wink gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

MMA is a global phenomenon, avidly consumed in half-a-billion homes worldwide. Todd counts himself as one of those fans, but has never actually been in a fight.

Coaches agree to train Todd for an upcoming fight. He has just two weeks to learn the skills of seven combat sports, improve his reaction time and hone his hand-eye skills.

Fight night arrives and Todd steps into the cage with MMA pro fighter Jon Sparks. Everything he has learned over the past two weeks will come down to a few minutes. With an opponent 17 years his junior, Todd will be pushed to his limits.

In parallel with Todd’s dramatic experience, the episode explores the sophisticated scientific approaches of MMA fighters and coaches.

I can’t imagine why anyone would want to watch an hour of Todd. I find him insufferable.

The first 10 mins of the premiere episode was live streamed on TEN’s Facebook page tonight.

The first episode was OK, it gives us a glimpse on how MMA fighters train for their fights.
The brief credits say the program has been produced also for Discovery Networks International, so it’s just a matter of time before this show airs on Discovery channels around the world.

I couldn’t see this mentioned anywhere in here but the series only has 6 episodes, with 5 remaining after last nights premiere.

I hope that BodyHack can do a bit better than the previous week in the ratings as it was an incredible show tonight. So compelling and engaging with such intense emotions, great images and possibly the best graphics seen on a TV show for a while, all with a bit of education thrown in. I suppose you could call it science porn
