Richard Roxburghhas revived his role as the disgraced NSW police detective, who inspired the acclaimed ABC miniseries Blue Murder back in 1995.
The dramatic retelling of Rogerson’s gangland dealings will take in his recent conviction over the 2014 killing of Sydney drug dealer Jamie Gao; for which he and cohortGlenn McNamaraare now serving life sentences.
Roxburgh filmed the Rogerson series, opposite United States Of Tara star Toni Collette, in June, but court proceedings slowed up Seven’s plans to have the crime thriller on air this year.
As per tonight’s Seven upfronts, the mini-series has a new name. Blue Murder: Killer Cop.
Will Seven repeat Blue Murder beforehand to refresh viewers’ memory?
Richard Roxburgh reprises his heralded portrayal of Australia’s most notorious former detective Roger Rogerson in BLUE MURDER: KILLER COP, leading an all-star cast including Toni Collette, Matt Nable, Dan Wyllie, Emma Booth, Justin Smith, Damian Walshe-Howling, Steve Le Marquand, Aaron Pedersen, Aaron Jeffery - and reprising their original roles, Tony Martin and Peter Phelps.
A floating body, a drug deal gone wrong, and two former detectives the perpetrators. Life imprisonment is the end of Roger Rogerson’s story. The last Blue Murder ended with his expulsion in disgrace from the NSW Police Force. In this instalment, Rogerson struggles to make a living in a world that’s rapidly changing, caught between the pressures of criminals, police and a love that might save him.
Written by Peter Schreck, directed by Michael Jenkins, produced by Michael Jenkins and Carol Hughes, and executive produced by John Edwards, Richard Roxburgh and Julie McGauran, BLUE MURDER: KILLER COP is an Endemol Shine Australia production for Seven, made with the assistance of Screen Australia and Screen NSW.
News Corp reports Killer Cop will be fast-tracked to air by Seven, possibly in August. A new trailer has been released (which can be seen here) I just saw the clip and it was excellent.
Well the original was brilliant so hopefully this is too. Only really thing I would watch on seven all year aside from the amazing race. Other than that seven never gets switched on in my house.
That promo went far too long, I wanna hear about why I should be watching these shows (or better yet, see why) and couldn’t give two hoots about it being ‘the biggest night of the year’
Is it just me or have others lost count on the amount of times Seven and Nine have claimed (insert night) is/will be the ‘biggest night of the year’…??
