We had a question about it a few weeks ago at quiz… the reactions there were about the same as that. The whole promo video of it was just weird!

I’ve never really been much of a streaming user, very much prefer the physical media format (granted I convert my purchased media on to hard drives so I don’t have eject discs 2390478203937 times a day). While the difference in the quality of streamed content has improved over the last decade (thanks to faster internet connections) for me I can still tell the difference in quality and it’s too jarring to put up with as a permanent way to watch content.

I signed up to Binge a few months ago (purely for WWE content, used to have a WWE Network subscription years ago… and felt like re-watching some classics that I couldn’t be bothered sorting out my dvd collection to watch lol). I’ve checked out a few odds and ends with other movies… some of the differences I’ve seen are puzzling.

For example, they are streaming an older (and inferior) version of Grease and not the most recent available (2018). Reminds me of Channel 7 and 10 still playing their old mastered copies of various movies during the early phase of the digital tv revolution (eg: Channel 7 continued to show their severely edited version of Die Hard… and Channel 10 loved playing their old tape of Ghostbusters!).

Terminator 2 was an interesting one. It’s the base movie (well the 2017 reissue that was released in 3D and 4K - fixing things like putting cgi Arnie over the stunt double’s face etc). However the end credits contained credits for the “special edition” (which was released on dvd in the early 2000’s AND also on blu-ray in the late 2000’s), but the version on Binge didn’t have the extra scenes from the special edition (Kyle Reese dream sequence etc).

MEET THE WOMEN LOOKING FOR LOVE ON NEW REALITY SERIES FBOY ISLAND

PREMIERING ON BINGE MAY 29

BINGE today announced the three women looking for love on BINGE’s new reality series FBOY Island Australia premiering May 29, 2023.

Joining host Abbie Chatfield, will be 26-year-old occupational therapist Molly O’Halloran, 26-year-old professional DJ Sophie Blackley and 21-year-old model Ziara Rae.

The 10-episode reality series will follow the three women as they navigate the dating pool together to uncover who are the self-proclaimed “nice guys” looking for love, and who are the self-proclaimed “FBoys” only there to play the game and take home the cash prize.

Hailing from Melbourne, Molly describes herself as a “21st Century Woman” and says, “I’m very passionate about women’s health, women’s sexuality, juggling it all and looking damn good whilst doing it”. She can’t stand arrogant men and is excited about putting the F-Boys in their place.

Originally from a small town in New Zealand, Sophie moved to Australia seven years ago and now runs her own entertainment business. She is larger than life, direct and unapologetically herself. Having not been on a date in three years she isn’t interested in anyone who seems to be a time waster.

Born in Australia of African American heritage, Ziara has worked as a model since the age of seven. Raised by a single mum, she has a maturity beyond her years and is not going to settle for anything less than what she knows she deserves.

BINGE Executive Director, Alison Hurbert-Burns said: “FBoy Island Australia is an exciting addition to our slate of the world’s best reality shows and we are excited for the audience to watch these three strong, successful women team together and empower each other as they navigate who is there for love, and who is just wasting their time.”

F-Boy Island Australia is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia (WBITVP) for BINGE.

F-Boy Island is an original format licensed by WBITVP

Bios:

MOLLY

26 year old Molly is strong, confident and blunt but also has a softer, more vulnerable side. She’s extremely self-aware and emotionally intelligent. She works as an Occupational Therapist in outpatient neuro rehab and loves baking in her spare time.
Molly is one of four girls and was raised in a strict Catholic family which she always rebelled against. She values her independence and has been taught not to rely on men, however she has always been “a relationship girl”, only ever being single for short periods.
Molly describes herself as a “21st Century Woman” and says, “I’m very passionate about women’s health, women’s sexuality, juggling it all and looking damn good whilst doing it”.
Molly can’t stand arrogant men and gets a kick out of putting them in their place. She’s attracted to F boys because she likes a challenge but knows that she needs a nice guy to help her trust again.

SOPHIE

Sophie is larger than life, direct and unapologetically herself. At 26 she is a straight shooter who lays all her cards on the table.
Originally from a small town in New Zealand she moved to Australia 7 years ago, is a professional DJ and dancer and now runs her own entertainment business in Melbourne. Due to the nature of her work, Sophie is constantly surrounded by Fboys but doesn’t have time for, nor is interested in, casual hookups.
She hasn’t been on a date in three years and isn’t interested in dating anyone she deems is a time waster. At a deeper level she fears committing to the wrong person. Sophie has a busy schedule so needs someone who will fit in with her lifestyle. They also need to be a free spirit (like her), open-minded, secure, funny, active, motivated, a hard worker and have no tattoos!
Sophie would love to elope in Vegas for her wedding and later have a family. Her parents met when they were 18 years old and are still together, they’re her role models for love.

ZIARA

Born in Australia of African American heritage, 21 year old Ziara has worked as a model since she was 7 years old! Being raised by a single mother has impacted Ziara positively. She has a maturity beyond her years – she is confident, calm, level-headed and secure in herself, however, is also a true romantic. She needs a guy who is a mix of F boy and nice guy – the nice guys bore her, the F boys play her, she knows it, but she loves the drama, likes the chase, and likes the confidence the F boys possess.
Ziara is looking forward to pulling the F boys into line and calling them out on their behaviour. A big thing for her is personality – looks are good but it’s the personality that is going to capture her interest more so than the physical. Old school values impress her – walking next to the road, opening the car door, and letting her go first, which is rare nowadays. Ziara knows what she wants and what she deserves and will not settle for anything less. She will need a confident guy to be able to handle her energy and her career - insecurities won’t last long with her.

I hope they don’t make this a plot point.

Is that not inciting domestic violence?

I also feel that these blurbs have been written by an AI :joy:

I don’t think it’s one or the other, I’ve seen other Binge promos which have included the Max / HBO original series straps.
