Updated: Despite publication of a premiere date by news.com.au Seven sources tell TV Tonight they have not announced the launch.
Iâm finding the promotion of this very underwhelming if the launch is less than 2 weeks away. There just doesnât seem to be any hype. I donât watch a lot of Seven but all that I seem to see is a new housemate named every few days which means nothing to me. I donât care about these people yet. Are there any promos really showing the new format, the house, the gameplay aspect of it etc? They could even go the angle of showing old seasons of how big event TV it was and then go how the game has changed. I am potentially the shows key target audience too but at this point I have no interest in watching at all.
Likewise, the promos are doing absolutely nothing for me either.
The dull promoâs just bring back flooding memories of how moribund the latter original seriesâ were.
All the promos have either been housemate introductions or exploring the Big Brother house. Surely they could promote it differently in some way?
I was a huge fan of BB for the first 3 seasons then my excitement dropped with each season and I largely stopped watching come Season 7. I briefly tuned into the first series on Nine out of interest but for me it wasnât the same.
Personally, i just do not see Sevenâs series being a hit, i am expecting it to perform quite woefully but am happy to eat my words - i just think theyâre doing it all wrong - Big Brother should be a big event series and we should be taking advantage of the leaps and bounds in technology since 2001 - 10 did this show justice with daily shows, eviction shows, uplate, uncut, nominations, website, live streaming etc - i just canât get excited for half arsed attempts that Nine and Seven are bringing to the viewers.
The big risk here is that not only does the younger audience take to this, but that channel 7âs almost rusted on older audience ditch it as well.
Completely agree. I just feel that Nine and Seven are not the right networks for this type of show as they are afraid to take risks and are not very innovative.
While the original version of Big Brother on Ten mightâve been innovative back in the day, Iâm not so sure if a version on Australiaâs third commercial network would be quite so cutting edge these days.
Anything would be better than the âfamily friendlyâ sanitised version that 9 has given us and that 7 plans to give us.
New recap show hosted by Mike Goldman to premiere on 7news.com.au.
Surely this would be better as a 7Plus Exclusive after show than 7News just seems off brand, but maybe itâs good for their monthly Nielsen numbers
I have to be honest, I was kind of excited when Seven were rumoured to be picking the show since theyâve been lacking a big format and have been losing ratings pretty much all of last year. I was hoping that they would do BB justice by going beyond what 10 did back in the day with live shows, uncut, up late, Friday night games amongst other things and that Gretel would return (wouldnât be that hard since sheâs already a commentator for Weekend Sunrise). I thought it would be a turning point for them.
However, as soon as I heard that Big Brother was going to go âSurvivorâ style and be pre-recorded I knew it wasnât going to work as well as the 10/Nine version. Big Brother thrives on interaction and audience engagement yet Seven are going the opposite. Sonia Kruger returning as the host was also a bad decision (surely they could spare some of that $1.5 million of hers to increase the production values of the show) and the promos, whilst not bad, feels like every other reality show that has aired on the commercials. Nothing exciting or out of the ordinary.
Iâm disappointed that this is the path Seven/Endemol Shine has decided to take. Ratings might tell a different story but unfortunately for them I donât think this version will work as well as they think it will.
Jesus. Such an odd place to launch a recap show and IMO tarnishes the 7news brand⌠Seven are all over the shop.
Nothing screams credible news brand better than a reality shows highlights reelâŚ
There is going to be another Big Brother show on 7plus called Eye Spy.
âThe series will feature âdiscussion, the hottest content and digital sponsorship opportunitiesâ.

Or maybe they have just changed the name of the show and moved it to 7news.
So basically something similar to advertorials?
Between social media, multichannels and streaming platforms, thereâs so much a network could do with Big Brother to make it an immersive 24/7 experience for viewers in ways 10 couldnât back when they first aired the program. That is why itâs such a shame to see that potential not being grasped
agree regarding the promos. 7 as a whole seems like they have forgotten that promos are supposed actually sell a show, not just describe & summarise it.
There is soon going to be another show called Media Spy on 7Plus
Great to see Mike Goldman still involved in Big Brother.
