Would that video suggest the Big Brother “house” will be one of the abandoned buildings (Prison Barracks Precinct) or warehouses on Cockatoo Island (former home of Nine’s Ninja Warrior)?
Enjoyed that promo, definitely going to be a different style of BB. Intriguing
Was searching for 10’s Amazing Race and stumbled across this.
Exact same music
The video looks cheap and tacky and I found it bizarre that they used so much American footage. It is clearly going the US format but removing the live aspect and pre-recording the thing. There’s no point reflecting on how big the show was and showing past footage if it is essentially going to be a completely new and different show. They should have at least rebranded the season or something and focused on the new angle rather than reflect on what Big Brother was.
I am all for them going in a new direction but I just wonder why they didn’t just take a risk and try a new format like The Circle. I don’t know how the Australian audience is going take with changing the format. People will expect Big Brother the way they know it. Not a new format
Urgh, the US version is soooo boring.
Wasn’t keen on a BB relaunch in the first place and now I’m absolutely not keen.
It was discussed by ex-Big Brother contestant Fitzy on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa this morning and basically everyone thought the concept was a bad idea. They all thought pre-recording and lack of audience interaction makes it pointless.
Yep, they clearly have a big brother on an island prison !
They showed in the promo of Sydney, a flying helicopter over the island, so its not going to be in a fox studio.
Very excited for big brother revolution being new, particularly the new house.
This is going to be a big brother 2.0 without the filthy adults only content, its going to have less housemates, more confined spaces and lots of competing army style challenges. The trailers shows very much that big brother will be back to shocking up viewers with housemates evicting friends, under their own jury system !
Evict, win, control !
How much does 7 pay you?
I think I saw speculation on reddit that the reason to pre-record BB is because of Netflix and their interest in the franchise
They are rumoured to want BBUK, but the live format with audience voting isn’t ideal for Netflix’s platform.
I don’t think it matters if BBR is pre-recorded, people will make their own reality suspension of disbelief. I think a live audience for the closing show is all that’s needed.
But it won’t have that either. The whole series will be pre-recorded.
Probably have to record multiple endings as well.
Do you think that if the whole idea is widely panned and derided, that Seven might change their minds and not go ahead? There have been a lot of shows announced in Upfronts in the past that never see the light of day.
I don’t think so I’m not sure how much they would have paid for the rights I will think will see one lazy shit season out of big brother in seven and then it will be quietly axed.
I have to say I’m a little more optimistic about Seven’s incarnation since seeing the tease reel that features Cockatoo Island. If they plan to house the participants on an island in Sydney Harbour it would suggest they’re looking for international sales. I still have concerns about the lack of viewer participation and the fact the show will be produced months in advance of air date with no live element.
Does it mean Cockatoo Island will be the actual location for the new BB house? Won’t it create the same noise issues which saw Australian Ninja Warrior, which had its first two seasons at the island, moving to Melbourne?
Doubt it. BB isn’t a noisy show and Ninja warrior is bright, loud and filmed well into the early hours of the morning. You would imagine any challenges would largely be filmed during the day?
And there’s no audience for BB.
