Big Brother

And Manu will be the voice of BB.

Yes, but the house and set up was already built season after season. All they did was style and update each year.

They will need an outdoor area. You couldn’t have them locked in a studio space for 2 months.

Canadian BB does

The original house in 2001 was built in 6 weeks. This includes the full compound. All concrete walls, roof etc.
The structure itself isn’t that complex. Fitting out the house would take a bit longer but not that extensive.

If 7 do go ahead, I wonder if it might be Celebrity Big Brother like the US version?

I honestly think this will flop if they do a studio style US version of BB.

I’m not sure BB will be a massive success though, even if they go all in…

I’d have some interest if it was all in like the early days. Daily shows, eviction, nominations, uncut, uplate make good use of the multichannels, online, social media… there’s a lot of potential given the digital age we are in now compared to when the show first premiered back in what 2001? That said personally my interest waned after 4-5 seasons when it was on 10 back in the day I just don’t think the viewers will be there

They might be chasing demos only and not total people. Who knows. If it’s family friendly then forget it. No one wants sanitized shit to suit sevens older conservative audience.

I think the format is done. Move on to something new.

I think there will be interest in the format for the first week or so, but the audience will drop off. Much like the Ch 9 seasons

I feel like the digital advantage for coverage is also a double edged sword.

Back in the day, the housemates were there for the experience, and maybe to win the money, which made it an authentic experience for the viewer. With the way ā€œrealityā€ shows are these days, perhaps with the exception of Survivor, I feel like casting is going to be suited towards people who will be trying to get Instagram famous and manipulate the show for themselves, with a typecast villain etc, as MKR, The Bachelor, MAF, etc. tend to do.

Obviously the world has changed and we’ll never get a BB season like the earlier days, but I just hope it doesn’t feel too overproduced and fake.

Why would they have a casting call?

they might do both in the pipeline

I thought that wasn’t real?

Why did you think that?

What about Movieworld

Have slightly more confidence in 7 than I did in 9, but it needs to air more than 4 nights a week, or at the very least if it does go the US route the episodes need to be spread as evenly as possible throughout the week - having no show from Wednesday to Sunday isn’t great.

Although different the US/Canadian format is strong and the gameplay has kept it interesting. Yes, the episodes are heavily gameplay focused but that is just how the show is edited - Survivor Australia shows that not only would Aussie play the game differently the show can be edited differently to focus as much on personality as it does on gameplay. And actually BBAus has had some kind of variation of the Head of House format in most seasons since BB2005.

I really hope they go with a new Exec producer for this series for a fresh direction. BB/I’m A Celeb (season 2 onwards)/Love Island have all felt a bit same-same in some respects this decade.
