Big Brother

As he is absolutely well within his rights. Our exclusive was the confirmation that took it beyond rumour.

Rob McKnight is the Dragon on Masked Singer. Thatā€™s a Marlene Exclusive.

I think you should expect someone like Chrissie Swan or Ryan ā€œFitzyā€ Fitzgerald to host the new Big Brotherā€¦if you believe the rumours. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Iā€™m imagining the show on 7 and it will be full of women bitching at a dinner table sort of like MKR and the weekly task will be food or marriage/relationship related :frowning:

Cast will be heavily botoxed women, older women/mums from Sydney or Yummy Mummy types, guys that look all muscly and abs sort of like Home and Away men ? Fake blondes etc.

I hope not ! I want to see just normal people with interesting stories , not fake types, see that enough on Instagram.

I think that ship sailed a long time ago. These type of shows are no longer social experiments. The people who go on these reality shows are all fame seekers. Nothing less.

I would say the majority are, but casting can likely get around that if they wish. Proactively casting, rather than jsut an open casting call can work. They have been doing thison MAFS for a few seasons and even do so for many of the talent shows now. If they really solely on online applications, or those that will queu for hours they will get it wrong.

There is a fantastic oppurtunity to educate audiences through casting by ensuring people from differnt walks of life are included. CBB in the UK has had some fantastic educational moments due to this. Given how divided parts of our nation currently are, including how far off the media/opinion polls can be from true public opinion, I think it could be very interesting.

So Seven gave Australiaā€™s Got Talent a third attempt and it failed so now they are giving Big Brother another go. This seeks major desperation.

There has been so much reality these days that Big Brother in itā€™s old format is just not exciting to viewers anymore nor viable to air multiple nights a week. For me the only way I can see a revival of Big Brother working is if it is later night and maybe a slightly shorter season. 3 months is just way too long. I loved the UK Celeb BB series because they went for a month and they aired late night in the UK so we pretty much saw everything. This highly edited family friendly nonsense on Nine was such a waste.

Seven should go the route that 9 are with Love Island and have it as a post 8.30pm show. Also take major advantage of multi channels for up late and additional content.

Nine already tried that with the last season of BB on their channel (it was scheduled for 8:40) and the ratings pretty much halved from the season before.

True. So there is not much hope for BB again.

It will be another failed reboot like AGT.

I have the feeling that neither Nine or 10 are particularly worried about Seven going after the BB rights; probably happy to see this as their competition.

It most definitely will be if Seven go down the family friendly route again.

I agree I think both are probably laughing that this will be the competition, presumably, after the olympics.

But then again there is a lot of hype for this show online it could surprise. If Seven schedules it in Q3 against The Block and Survivor I can see it being very competitive especially in the demos.

I just donā€™t think it will happen. Yes, maybe there will be initial interest. But you canā€™t expect it to air higher higher than when it was airing on 9. The track record of this sort of strategy isnā€™t exactly good. It was just an opportunity for 7 to try something new and bring in viewers yet they went for a brand that has been tried by the other two networks and failed. This is the way 7 have decided to go, that is fine. But I donā€™t think 9 or 10 would be all too worried and in fact absolutely relieved.

Survivor wonā€™t be airing in Q3 next year though, it will most likely be airing directly after Celeb given itā€™s filming now.

Maybe the return of BB is a chance for another network like 10 to jump on a newer similar concept like The Circle and air it directly against it.

AGT can still build to be a decent option for 7.00/7.30 viewing.

Very much for this. I was crying with laughter last night when watching The Circle. Tim is gold!!! 10 need to have a serious look at this. Air it at the end of the year next year for 4-6 weeks.

Peter Ford said on 6PR this morning that Seven is looking to keep the costs of production down by building a house within an established studio so it appears Sevenā€™s version of the BB franchise will be the equivalent of Aldi- no frills, cheap and nasty. We all remember what happened when Seven went down the cheap and nasty route when they rebooted The Price Is Right.
