Safe vote? No such thing

Farmer Daveā€™s wrong move costs the royalty dearly

Tonight during the house task, Big Brother had pulses racing and hearts set aflutter. Not only did the housemates fail the task, they also lost out on a special three-course dinner.

But there were more shocks in store with the arrival of intruders Brenton and Jules. Soon, both the alliances were battling to win over the brand-new housemates.

During the family dinner, Big Brother announced that the housemates must choose between the two intruders for the next Head of House. When Jules won and invited Dave, Estelle and Tully to the HOH suite, it was clear the royalty had a new ally.

In a gripping nominations challenge, Farmer Dave stayed strong to claim his first win, but not without making a deal with the devil. Daveā€™s pact with Tim to save Brenton saw him nominate royalty Trevor and floater Gabbie as safe votes, to put the squeeze on newbie Aleisha.

In the most emotional eviction ceremony to date, Daveā€™s plan completely backfired. The only housemate in Big Brother history to have never been nominated prior to tonight, Trevor, was eliminated.

ā€œThe guy I respect the most in the house is now gone because of what Iā€™ve done,ā€ Dave said.

Next week on Big Brother : the house gets absolutely trashed and the original housemates self-destruct. Is it the end of their alliance?

Big Brother is a 90+ minute show, Home and Away is a 30 minute show. Of course it has triple the number of ad breaksā€¦

Intruder Brenton last night claimed that he hadnā€™t seen the show before as part of his game play. When asked if he saw Sonia before he came in he said ā€œWho - is she around?ā€. When it was explained who Sonia was, he said he thought that the host was Grant Denyer. He also asked which of the housemates was Big Brother and said he thought he was auditioning to be on The Voice. After that he sort of faded into the background

Is this part of his plan? He told the others that he was invited to join the show, but I wonder if this is all part of his game to fool the others.

Yes, itā€™s just all part of his stupid game plan. And Iā€™m predicting he will get himself voted out pretty quickly if he keeps it up.

While it does well with 7+ etc, I donā€™t see a new season next year with numbers under 300k

The show has completely lost me ever since the producers saved Sam. Absolutely absurd.

Also sick of the ā€˜safe voteā€™ theory. Itā€™s never worked. Fuck Dave for sending home Trevor.

Do we think seven will go another season after this one?

No way. Iā€™d go as far as to say we will never see it again. Itā€™s been on all three commercial networks now too. Itā€™s long had itā€™s day.

Theyā€™d be stupid if they did. Time for something new Seven, preferably not stripped reality.

Iā€™m not sureā€¦ but the shows current format definitely isnā€™t working. I think Seven need to at least put hold on itā€¦ and rest it for a bit.

What they really need to do is give it a year, then come back with a limited live series. People arenā€™t watching because they canā€™t get invested as they have no involvement in the game. The finalists are who the producers want and only then can people have their ā€œsayā€

The show needs a more organic turnaround of daily shows, live shows and NOT 90min eps. People donā€™t have time for 90 min shows now - attention spans have shrunk when it comes to TV. The original format is more in line with todays digestible content. 30 min daily shows (which can be repackaged for bite size across social), 1.5 hour live shows.

They fucked it up and got greedy. The show was never designed as a movie a night format and with developed manipulated storylines.

Iā€™ve probably asked this before but does it really cost more for Seven to have it live vs pre-recorded? Sevenā€™s all about bean counters these days and all they want is a bang for their buck. Having said that if it does cost more for live production it could rate better which can offset some of the production costs. Currently the show is flopping badly and no amount of cheapness is going to change the fact that itā€™s bleeding financially.

For it to be live I think they would need double the production crew which costs. Currently itā€™s not a full staffed control room where the house is monitored and there arenā€™t crew logging everything that happens like in previous series. This Seven series is all about getting the right shot and angle and staging everything like itā€™s a film shoot.

I think also the COVID factor does limit the ability to do it live too, when we saw production teams all in insolation etc.

However now there isnā€™t really an excuseā€¦ except with Seven not wanting to spend the extra $$

Hurricane Tully strikes

Cracks start to show in the OG alliance

Tonight on Big Brother , the housemates woke to a nasty shock as the normally pristine house was trashed.

Their task to earn the weekā€™s shopping budget was to keep the house clean and tidy for 24-hours despite multiple messy disasters; including confetti showers and a backyard full of farm manure.

Later, cracks appeared in the OG alliance after Tim and Dave targeted Tully. When she caught on to their secret plot, Dave pointed the finger at Tim. But Tim exposed Daveā€™s deception, making him an easy target for nomination.

In tonightā€™s challenge, the housemates competed in pairs: one as runner and the other with their head encased in a clear empty tank. As the runners sprinted back and forth collecting water to flush out the competition, Gabbie and Jules made a splash to win safety from nomination.

Tim was out for revenge as Dave was nominated for eviction along with Lulu and Sam, leaving the original housemates on the verge of complete collapse.

Tomorrow night: Big Brother ā€™s panic room intensifies and Samā€™s blind jealousy sends her over the edge.

I read that the current ā€œcheapenedā€ format was devised by and pitched to networks by Endemol Shine. Prior to that no-one was interested.

Iā€™m pretty sure BB has been done like this for a far while now around the world and thatā€™s going back to pre covid times, with cost being the big factor.

Actually Australia is one of the few countries in the world that pre-record the show in advance. Even the US version which 7ā€™s takes many elements from is filmed live and you can also watch a live stream of the house.

For Seven to opt now for a more expensive live version in a multi-day format with big event shows like big event 1 hour eviction shows etc would be a huge risk; one I donā€™t think they will take. Anything they are likely to do is going to look poor in comparison to the past.
