I think that was due to Covid19 ramping up and checking in with family to ensure everyone is ok?

Yeah it makes sense now that it has been revealed all housemates got a video call. I just thought it was Dan. Still isn’t how I would like the game played but I can understand why.

So? Given the circumstances with the pandemic, it would be pretty heartless if they didn’t allow calls from home. Pandemic , mate.

Read the rest of my posts before you overreact.

Lol i did and its not an over reaction. Just stating that given its a pandemic they have a right to talk to their familes.

In Big Brother when there has been a death of a family member Big Brother always made the effort to tell the house mate in the diary room and allow them to take time and whether they want to leave the house.

I’m just putting it out there have been times when contact of the outside world is paramount in situations like a death of a loved one and obviously this pandemic has changed everything.

Contestants have occasionally had the opportunity to make calls home in the past - usually as a challenge reward - so it’s not complete unprecedented.

They have received ā€œvoicemailsā€ or messages from home but never a direct live phone call.

I wasn’t upset about the contact with the outside world more confused to why Dan received a video message because he was unsure whether he and his girlfriend were an item. That is the way Big Brother edited it and that goes against the way the game should be played. But it has been cleared up all housemates got a video call and it was more due to the current COVID situation rather than what they edited it to make it look like. The edit shouldn’t have been done in that way.

Big Brother definitely seems to have favourites in the house.

It’s probably the ones he gets to do stuff with no question

That Spoiler is incorrect as that challenge is tomorrow. So final 4 not confirmed.

The final 4 challenge is thought to be the underwater unlocking the padlocks challenge shown in the pre season promo not the challenge that’s going to be tomorrow.

Didn’t seem smart for Sarah, Sophie and Chad to vote our Marissa. She was someone that they could have worked with and made an alliance of 4. Kieran is very unreliable and they don’t even like him.

TONIGHT – Chad and Sophie celebrated their one-month anniversary with a champagne breakfast for two. As she watched their bond deepen, Casey expressed concern at how much of a threat the lovebirds were becoming. But when Casey stepped up and won the nomination challenge, she decided to play the long game, nominating Kieran and Marissa for eviction. Marissa scrambled hard but it wasn’t enough and she exited the house while ā€œcockroachā€ Kieran lived to fight another day.

HOUSE TASK

Remote Control – Big Brother controlled housemates’ every move, able to fast forward, rewind, pause, play and put them in slow motion. If the house task was deemed a success, their reward would be burgers for lunch. If they were unwilling to relinquish control, they would fail.

REWARD

Burgers

NOMINATION CHALLENGE

Step On It – Housemates had to place their hands on two discs on top of their own personal gameboard. There were six discs at their feet. On Big Brother’s command they had to place their feet on the two assigned discs, holding until Big Brother specified a new position. If at any time they slipped or let go of the discs, they were out of the challenge. The last housemate with their feet on the gameboard won the power to nominate two housemates for eviction.

CHALLENGE WINNER

Casey

NOMINATED FOR EVICTION / NUMBER OF VOTES

NOMINEES VOTES
MARISSA 5
KIERAN 0

EVICTED HOUSEMATE

Marissa Rancan, Sydney - ā€œI’m 61 but I know I’ve been a strong contender in this game. That’s a good thing but it’s also a bad thing. I can’t believe I’m out. The game has turned up to extra hot. Dan, Mat and Casey are coming for Sophie and Chad. There’s $250,000 on the line. I just want to say, guys, watch out!ā€

TUESDAY 7.30PM… TEAM ROMANCE VS TEAM BROMANCE

One gravity defying challenge and two unbreakable bonds… but as Team Romance and Team Bromance go head to head, the big power lies with little Sarah.

Plus Marissa has some challenge ability (she’s won a challenge and been in the mix on a few), Kieran hasn’t been in the mix for a win on any challenge - Marissa can be weapon against the Mat/Dan/Casey alliance, Kieran is nothing more than an extra vote.

The only logical reason I could see in a Marissa eviction is if they perceive her in being a bigger threat for the Final Vote (where Australia votes for a winner) - but even then, there’s opportunity down the track - challenges vary in the skill needed to win and Marissa has not shown to be an all rounder in the comps.

The description by 7 for tomorrows episode gives me hope that the top 4 spoiler is wrong.

The voting from this group often makes no sense. They just seam to lurch from one pay back vote to another. Despite the ability to be able to talk openly about strategy, there is not a lot of good strategic play to be seen. I think there was often a lot more thought put into nominations in the other version of the game where strategy talk was forbidden and contestants had to nominate not knowing what the rest of the housemates were doing. There was a lot clearer distinction between those who were obviously playing the game and the rest. It also seemed that there was a lot more anguish felt when voting for friends in the house.

I don’t think its favorites so much, its more trying to create a narrative as it is all pre-filmed. Survivor is filmed in full before being edited. Knowing who the final 3 are (even the public can easily find out the final 4) they need to ensure there is likeability there etc.

A lot of the editing is starting to following the same formula, you can pick the evictee by the edit they are given and the forced narrative that it could go either way when it is a landslide vote.
