Between Two Worlds

I might give it another go down the track then when I can give it better attention. It just didn’t grab me unlike other dramas such as secret bridesmaid business. But I will try again.

I know that fans of BTW are planning to bombard Channel Seven with emails etc expressing how much they want the series to be renewed. I’m not sure how much notice Seven would take - the ratings speak for themselves unfortunately.

I’ve been asked if I know the best person/department at Seven for people to contact about this. Any ideas?

Probably programming. It looks like an expensive show to film so unless the rich people are written out or they lose their house i can’t see it going ahead lol

The whole point is families from two different worlds ie. social standing.

So I finally saw the 10th and final episode on my PVR tonight. So many cliffhangers which I feel will need a telemovie to tidy up. That’s one cliffhanger I don’t quite understand. As Mikael was about to leave the holiday house he saw an envelope on the verandah which contained a threatening message for Georgia. Why then did Mikael shoot at Georgia and Bart in the final scene?
Overall I think the general plot was quite good but it was too slow paced, it should have been kept to 6-8 episodes.

That’s why it’s a cliffhanger. Is it revenge for bring sacked and being annoyed by Bart? Is he just trying to scare Georgia to keep his protection job? Does he actually shoot at someone else who is stalking her?

I also just finished this yesterday. Watched the whole lot in like 2 days. (On holidays right now )
Yeh I’m with most people, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. Good enough to keep me watching even though I knew it probably would have an unresolved ending!
As for Mikael, he looked so familiar to me - so IMDB to the rescue - it was Harry Polsen from A Place To Call Home!

Sara Wiseman posted on Instagram that TVNZ has picked the show up (so will probably be streamed first, air after the September 23 date she posted)

Correct, all 10 episodes are now available on TVNZ on Demand.

Not surprisingly, the show has been axed after one season. I just wish that they’d filmed 2-3 more episodes to wrap up the cliffhanger storyline. For those of us who tried to stick with the show it would’ve been nice to have some sort of conclusion.

Ahh yes it reminds me of the show Now & Again, staring Eric Close (back in 2000s before he starred in Without A Trace) where the cliffhanger ended with shots going in the house and them ducking in the basement, no resolution whatsoever with that ep although it was a great show (IMHO). I guess thats what fan fiction is for

Between Two Worlds will screen in Nordic and Baltic states, Poland and the Netherlands, as part of a wider content deal between NENT Group and distributor eOne.

I’m still pissed about that unresolved cliffhanger, two decades on

I am in touch with the administrators of the program’s Facebook fan group, who have shared correspondence from the creator Bevan Lee, which includes a rough draft of what he had planned for season two of Between Two Worlds.

"To give you a rough idea of where I had intended to take the story of “Between Two Worlds”:

Phillip and Cate were going to experience a huge rupture in their marriage, due to her deceiving him about the heart. Sophia initially turned against Phillip, but then felt sorry for him when his life and business fell apart, due to a power struggle against an alliance of Cate and Bart, in the light of it coming out that Bart is his half-brother and not his son.

Phillip falls in love with Sophia and much complication ensues when he sets out to get her away from David. He is ultimately successful, and he was going to marry Sophia eventually, after his divorce from Cate. In the long run, Sophia in tandem with Bella and Sandra were going to succeed in changing Phillip into a decent man, intent to use his money to make reparations for the sins of his past.

When Mikael shot the rifle, it was to hit Georgia, so as to injure but not kill her. This was done to divert any suspicion regarding her activities and to earn her ill-deserved sympathy in the midst of the scandal caused by her lies about Bishop Ball. In hospital, tests show that Georgia is pregnant. Given her ambivalent attitude to motherhood, this causes her great confusion, and she decides to get rid of the baby. Mikael stops her doing so, knowing that her power base is much greater if she has Bart’s baby as a bartering chip. Bart’s love, and the gradual effect of coming to terms with motherhood, start to soften Georgia, but when an argument with Cate leads to her falling down the stairs and losing the baby she sets out to destroy Cate.

Cate was eventually going to be murdered and Georgia was going to be charged with her murder. Although she did not do it, she comes to feel this charge is justice for the crimes she has committed. Mikael works to try to uncover who the real killer is, but his efforts turn out to be a cover for the fact that it was he who killed Cate when she threatened to expose him for the manipulator he is and see him lose all he has gained by becoming seemingly invaluable to Bart and the business. It seems that all is going to be well for Bart and Georgia, when she is cleared of the murder charge, but Mikael takes her down with him when he is finally arrested. He tells Bart the entire truth of her actions, which leads Bart to finally reject her for good. A furious attempt by her to lash back at Bart for this rejection, sees her crash the car with him in it, ironically causing her own death but not his.

These events coincide with the changes in Phillip. Former father and son, but in truth now half-brothers, finally overcome the bitterness between them and forge the tentative beginnings of a relationship, both personal and business, with hope for the future.

The series, that has been so dark and involved, would have ultimately ended on a life positive note, with the surviving characters changed for the better by all they have been through.

I hope this helps give viewers of Season 1 some form of narrative closure.
