Even the hardest-working chippies need a break every now and then and this week, Adam’s found the ultimate destination to recharge…and get his adrenaline pumping at the same time. He’s heading to Penrith, which is less than an hour’s drive from Sydney’s CBD and is fast becoming the state’s water sports capital. From wakeboarding to riverside unwinding, plus a little bit of skydiving thrown in, Adam’s exploring the wild, wild west…and having the time of his life.

CLARISSA – STEAMED CHICKEN WITH GINGER & SHALLOT DRESSING

It’s a Cantonese classic for a reason. Steamed chicken with ginger & shallot dressing is the ultimate comfort food…but cooked wrong it can be chewy, tough and a downright chore to eat. Melissa’s visiting a very regular street in a very regular Melbourne suburb to check out a garden that is anything but. Self-taught topiarist, Ick Chu, has transformed his front yard into a fantastical horticultural wonderland – and it’s got all the neighbours talking. This unexpected zoo of plants has been clipped and pruned into a unique, whimsical, and utterly out-of-this world landscape, filled with animals and sculptural forms of every shape and size. Melissa’s meeting Ick to find out how his creative hobby has overtaken his life…and his garden.

DR HARRY – NATIONAL DOG AGILITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

If you think dogs have fun running around at the local park, wait until you see the world of dog agility! Watching these dogs race through obstacle courses at lightning speed is just as thrilling for the handlers as it is for the pups and at the Australian National Dog Agility Championships, the competition is at its absolute best. The sport is open to all breeds and skill levels, with over 800 dogs from across the country vying for the title of National Champion. Dr. Harry’s here to meet some of the competitors and their owners and to join in the fun.

CHARLIE – AZALEA VS SPIDER MITE

They’re only a few millimetres long, but spider mites can cause a world of damage to your plants. Charlie’s tackling two azaleas with different levels of spider mite damage, each requiring a different treatment. Along the way, he’s sharing his tips on how to spot a spider mite infestation on your plants and how to know when the damage is beyond repair.

JOHANNA – NICOLA OLYSLAGERS JUMPING FOR GOLD

When Nicola Olyslagers became the first Australian women in history to clear the elusive two-metre barrier in the high jump, she was just getting started. In the past year, the 29-year-old world champion and Olympic silver-medallist has been training hard for the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games and renovating at the same time. She’s just bought a house with her husband, Rhys on the Central Coast and, alongside looking after her dog, Honey, her life is very full. As we count down to the Commonwealth Games, Johanna is meeting up with Nicola to find out what inspires her, both as an athlete and at home.

COLIN – RICOTTA GNUDI

They’re pillowy, they’re soft and they’re completely gnudi. Pronounced ‘nudie’, Colin’s sharing his take on these light, ricotta-based dumplings which are a little bit like gnocchi but a whole lot more delicious. Paired with a simple brown butter, sage, and pine nut sauce, once you taste these there is no going back.

GRAHAM – BACKYARD BONSAI

Imagine stepping out of your house straight into a breathtaking landscape chock full of perfectly sculpted, growing trees. Miniature trees, that is! DR HARRY – LEAD TRAINING RAFFIE

Not many dogs can say that they’ve saved someone’s life…but Raffie the golden retriever can. His owner, Sandra, was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer several years ago and Sandra’s convinced that Raffie’s love and attention is what got her through the surgery and her recovery. In fact, Sandra’s so sure of Raffie’s healing powers, she thinks he would make a magnificent therapy dog…but there’s one problem. Raffie is used to wearing a harness and failed his therapy-dog assessment because he pulls too hard when he’s wearing a flat collar and lead. Can Dr Harry help Raffie master the lead, so he can bring comfort and joy to those who need it the most?

COLIN – SATAY PORK RIBS & SWEET POTATO

Succulent, saucy and downright delicious, everyone loves barbecue pork ribs and this week, Colin’s putting his spin on them. ADAM + COLIN – HOW TO BUILD A RUSTIC GREENHOUSE – NIGHT ONE

Colin has always dreamt of adding a greenhouse to his backyard and five years ago, he got stuck into the project himself. But after laying the concrete slab, he realised he had no idea what he was doing, so he’s bringing in the big guns! Adam’s here to help Colin build the ultimate rustic greenhouse from the frame up. With recycled timber doors and windows and a sleek skillion roof, this greenhouse will be full of charm. And if, like Colin, you’ve dreamt of building a shed or greenhouse from scratch but have no idea how to start, this project will help guide you through the entire process.

DR HARRY – SAVING OUR SEABIRDS

When an oil spill contaminated a canal in Sydney’s inner west, it put the city’s pelicans in peril. Oil contamination can be deadly for waterbirds, damaging the waterproofing of their feathers…and if they ingest the oil, it’s fatal. It was a race against the clock, but an extraordinary team of wildlife rescuers, vets and volunteers came together to save them…and their efforts proved remarkable. Dr Harry’s meeting some of this incredible team to find out more and to thank them for giving these birds a second chance.

Are your kids’ craft projects taking over your house? You might need a dedicated crafting play zone…and this week, Juliet’s showing you how to create one. She’s turning an unused corner of Harrison’s bedroom into the ultimate spot for crafting…and for doing homework, too. Using a clever painting trick to visually designate it as a separate ‘zone,’ this crafting corner is cute-as-a-button and there’s loads of storage, too. The best part of this makeover is, it can change and grow as Harrison does…and it doesn’t cost a lot to create, either.

JOHANNA – THE OUTBACK MAILMAN

Imagine being a postie with a route 600 kilometres long! For Bruce Ross, that’s a reality. He lives in the outback (and we’re talking way out back) in the opal capital of the world, Coober Pedy. Famous for its lunar landscapes, scorching hot temperatures, underground homes and, of course, its opals, life in Coober Pedy is just a little different to living in the city, and Bruce wouldn’t have it any other way. Johanna’s meeting up with him to check out this amazing corner of the world and to see what being an outback postie is really like.

ADAM + COLIN – HOW TO BUILD A RUSTIC GREENHOUSE – NIGHT TWO

Last night, the frame went up and Colin even learnt how to use a nail gun…but this greenhouse build is just getting started! Tonight, Adam and Colin are adding the recycled doors and windows to give this greenhouse it’s rustic charm. And don’t forget the roof, cladding, and work benches, too. We’ve never featured a build quite like this on the show and the finished result is nothing short of spectacular.

COLIN – THE FLAT SAUSAGE ROLL

To thank Adam and the builders for their help, Colin’s getting back into the kitchen…but will this dish fall a little flat? He’s making sausage rolls with an Asian twist, but these sausage rolls are flat, not round. Sounds strange, but it’s a wonderful way to create the perfect ratio of stuffing to pastry. With pork mince, prawns, ginger, fish sauce, chilli, and limes, if you need to feed a crowd, this is the ultimate recipe.

JOHANNA – OUR OUTBACK WONDERLAND

Johanna’s travelling to the back of beyond to witness a breathtaking, once-in-a-generation phenomenon: the mighty Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre has completely transformed into a vibrant, water-filled oasis. This amazing event only happens three or four times every 100 years and Johanna’s here to witness it, and to meet some of the amazing locals, too, including heroic members of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The Red Centre is coming alive like never before…you can’t miss this!

COLIN + MANU – CARAVAN COOKING BY THE SEA

There’s only one person Colin wants to go caravanning with…his mate, Manu Fidel. The longtime besties and MKR judges are teaming up to visit one of their favourite places on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, and they’ll be doing lots of eating along the way. They’re picking up some fresh local seafood and heading to a local campground, where Manu’s making a French-style baked fish with fennel, thyme, lemon, and orange. Caravanning has never tasted so good.

MELISSA – A WALK IN THE PARK (FITZORY GARDENS & CONSERVATORY)

Melissa’s visiting a beautiful garden tucked right in the heart of one of Australia’s busiest cities. Fitzroy Gardens is located just a stone’s throw from Melbourne’s CBD and it’s the perfect place to relax, unwind and escape the daily grind. This Victorian-era garden was laid out in 1859 and here you’ll find gorgeous formal gardens together with water features and a conservatory. You can even visit Captain Cook’s cottage, which was relocated here from Yorkshire in the 1930s. It’s one of Melbourne’s most historic and beautiful gardens and it’s full of inspiring ideas for your place…Melissa’s sharing some of her favourites.
