Bert Newton 1938-2021

I haven’t seen some of these clips of Graham and Bert in years. I’m crying with laughter. Just classic stuff.

There’s no host for this show. It’s a shame.

Probably in the can for ages.

I wouldn’t be using the events of 16 years ago as any indication of whether or not Nine will run coverage of Bert Newton’s funeral, not least because the corporate structure of the network has changed since 2005…

Nine just showed a retro ident before returning from the break.

Not so much about Nine, but I think just the point that don’t necessarily expect that the most likely network will be interested. Ideally I’d like to think that all three networks would cover the funeral, given Bert’s contribution to all of them over the years, but we’ll see.

Hopefully someone is capping it!

Not that long as the new WWOS set is being used for in some interviews

Nice to see them show some footage from GMA from Channel 10. Even if it was brief…

Would love a video of that

Peter Ford will reveal something Bert did for a friend of his who was dying - tomorrow morning on The Morning Show, and Ben Fordham and Ross & Russel’s breakfast shows on 2GB and 3AW respectively.

What a shame they stretched it to 16:9 ratio.

Thanks for this!

Lots of these clips are way before my time, but damn they are hilarious. Brilliant show so far.

A great era of TV

Totally agree. Fortunate I watched some of him in the 2000’s but feel I have missed a whole part of the man. Great to see these clips but I wish the former shows were available to watch somewhere.

I’d love to see a series made of these clips and I feel there would be an Audience for them

Also, goes to show the importance of the Logies back in the day, even the prime minister there.

This DVD was doing the rounds with the retailers, I’m not sure if it is still available … or if people even buy DVDs anymore… (I do but I am ancient)

We really don’t have tv like this anymore. It’s such a shame. Even the quality of guests the Don Lane show got were tremendous.

Given streaming and the young people watching shit on YouTube and gaming the mass audience is not there for live entertainment and variety.

I wasn’t intending on watching this tonight but I’ve stayed to the end.

The fact that Bert was able to entertain for over 50 years is great. From the classic variety to the 3200 episodes of GMA. He practically kept 10 alive in the 90s. Such a legacy.
