Beijing Winter Olympics Coverage

Don’t know I would call it a planning issue - it just seems like someone accidentally aired the closing segment (and hence the network thought the coverage ended) too early.

Day 1 Saturday 5 March

Three Australian Paralympians will be on show today, when the wintery action kicks off in Beijing.

Last night, Paralympic Alpine Skier Mel Perrine and Paralympic Snowboarder Ben Tudhope carried the Aussie flag into Beijing’s Bird Nest Stadium in a spectacular Opening Ceremony, but today it’s all down to business in the XIII Paralympic Winter Games

image
Vision impaired Alpine Skier Patrick Jensen and Guide Amelia Hodgson, will tackle the Downhill, alongside team mates Mitch Gourley and Sam Tait. Whilst all three compete in different classes, they are grouped together in the same event and a factoring or points system is used to determine the results meaning each athlete holds the same chance of success.

Also on 7plus today, tune into the Para-biathlon and Para-ice hockey

China need to be careful or else they will be banned too from sport like Russia and Belarus have been

Unlikely unless if they openly declare their support for Russia and/or send troops to aid Russia.

Read between the lines and you can see where their support lies…

Was Gordon Bray commentating the world feed? I recognise the voice but unsure who exactly it was!

I think it was Steve Robilliard.

DAY 3 / Monday 7 March

It’s all on the line today for Aussie Co-Team Captain Ben Tudhope.

The triple Paralympian qualified fourth in yesterday’s Para Snowboard preliminary event and today it’s all about medals.

At just 22, this is his third Games having debuted as a 14-year-old in Sochi, where he finished 10th in this event and 10th again four years later in PyeongChang.

After a stellar season on the world cup tour in 20-21, he’s now considered one of the medal favourites and the moment of truth arrives later today.

Lots of criticism online from broadcasters around the world not airing Paralympic coverage on TV. CBC showed para hockey over Canadian athletes winning gold on TV

Very little coverage here in Australia as well. I saw a report on Seven News tonight of Australia’s first medal at the games; but no coverage on any other bulletin as far as I could tell. Even on Seven, just that report, no cross to the games during the news.

Saw NBC’s schedule with limited coverage in the States. Everything behind a paywall on Peacock with 2-3 hours coverage on the main NBC channel

At the very least, Seven should have shown the events featuring Australians on 7mate - even if it’s just using the OBS feed.

There’s also daily live coverage on both USA Network & the Olympic Channel.
