Neil and Alesha are good (but maybe they should’ve brought back Nicole Scherzinger instead of Alesha for familiarity), it’s just Shane and Kate that are let downs for me.
Shane is alright but there’s better out there. It’s nice to have at least one judge back from a previous season.
Kate seems an unusual choice but at least will be familiar with Seven audiences, as you mentioned. I would’ve imagined her on a AGT panel in 2016 as opposed to 2021 (no disrespect intended), she does seem a bit less relevant these days.
Personally I would’ve hoped for the following:
Manu Feildel, Lucy Durack (or alternatively Nat Bass), Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell
Some good choices there. I think Neil Patrick Harris is a good choice. And don’t mind Kate Ritchie returning on our screens in the judging role.
As for Alesha Dixon, the name didn’t ring a bell for me initially. But when i googled her and saw a photo of her, then i remembered her on Britain’s version. She seems nice from what i’ve seen.
I agree it will be nice to see Kate back on our screens, she has mentioned in the past she had been waiting for the right role for her return to television. She obviously thinks being a judge is something she can do,so good luck to her.
Don’t know why you’re assuming the fault lies with Valance when there’s nothing to suggest that’s necessarily the case.
As for the judging panel, it’s an impressive line-up. Neil Patrick Harris is a really big get for Seven - not only does his personality absolutely suit a show like AGT but he’s someone promotions can be centered around during the Olympics. Alesha Dixon will probably fill the role Nicole Scherzinger unintentionally played in the last series and be the person who can ‘anchor’ the judging panel while Shane Jacobson (despite being a ‘divisive’ figure) provides continuity and a ‘safe pair of hands’. The only person I’m not really sure about is Kate Ritchie and whether she’ll make a good judge but will keep an open mind
Yeah she’s a great personality but she’s never done this before so hopefully she’ll be good at it. I wouldn’t have minded Olympia Valance either.
So glad they got some A-list stars for this show in Neil Patrick Harris and (to a lesser extent) Aleisha Dixon. Shane Jacobson is the only one who I am not a fan of but I’m happy to keep an open mind about him.
Whilst your point is valid Seven is hardly the only network to do this. Nine did this with Lord Alan Sugar last year for Celebrity Apprentice (when the world was arguably in a worse state with COVID) and 10 did this with Urzila Carlson as well.
Is there really still angst? From the conversations I’ve had, any sympathy for the ‘stranded Australians’ has dried up. We can’t compromise life and the economy on Australian soil forever while they take their time to fly home. And anyone that has left the country since March 2020 knew the deal.
I think it’s still important to distinguish between those who desperately want to come home but are still unable for whatever logistical reasons and those who could’ve come home but choose to stay overseas. Those who belong in the former shouldn’t be put in the same boat as those in the latter group.
Anyway it’s not a big deal considering other commercial networks have done it too as mentioned above. Seven also did it with Rita Ora for The Voice and Rob Riggle on Holey Moley.
According to TV Blackbox, crew involved with the show’s shooting have been released today. This is going to leave a significant hole in Seven’s post-Olympics schedule
If one of the issues was the lack of audience attendance then couldn’t they try a virtual audience or something like that? America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent all managed through their seasons last year without an audience so they might as well give it a go.
The Masked Singer had to deal with a Stage 4 lockdown plus an outbreak last year but they innovated and it went well. Surely they could implement a COVID-Safe plan for this show too?
