Australia’s Got Talent: Challengers & Champions

AUSSIE CHALLENGERS TAKE ON WORLD’S BEST IN BIGGEST EVER SERIES OF AGT

Australia’s Got Talent: Challengers & Champions sets all-Australian judging panel with Sonia Kruger, Olympia Valance, Shane Jacobson and Manu Feildel, plus special guest judge Kyle Sandilands.

Channel Seven today announced the all-Australian judging panel for Australia’s Got Talent: Challengers & Champions, a world-first twist to the popular format in which Aussie acts will take on some of the best Got Talent champions from around the globe.

The most spectacular ever season of AGT will feature new judges Sonia Kruger and Olympia Valance, joining returning judges Shane Jacobson and Manu Feildel.

Radio king Kyle Sandilands will feature as a special guest judge, while Ricki-Lee is back as host.

Australia’s Got Talent: Challengers & Champions sees some of the best entertainers in Australia going head to head with the world’s most memorable Got Talent acts, all vying to be crowned the ultimate champion and walk away with the $100,000 prize.

Seven’s Director of Network Programming, Angus Ross, said: “This promises to be the Olympics of talent where to be the best, you’ll have to beat the best. It’s world class competition with all the surprising and sometimes weird moments Aussie families have come to love from AGT .”

Fremantle Australia Director of Unscripted, Jonathon Summerhayes, added: “We’re thrilled to be partnering again with Seven to make the greatest entertainment show on the planet. The huge success of the acts on Australia’s Got Talent resonates around the world, with more than 800 million video views on social media.”

The epic audition shows are being filmed at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre this month. To be part of the audience, go to www.australiasgottalent.com.au

Got Talent is easily the best franchise out there, and yet Australia keeps stuffing it up, season after season after season. In the US they have managed to have some great line-ups (and some dodgy ones too) and in the UK the same. But they’ve pulled off great moments and great chemistry. It’s never worked here, they don’t seem to know how to produce or cast it properly. The new line-up is the same mess as usual.

Disagree. The original version here on 7 worked very well.

What happens to Lucy and Nicole?

They both had other commitments in 2020.

Why are we commenting on this now? Isn’t AGT on hold now?

How easy would have All Together Now been to do for 7. The whole point of that show is you are singing along at home.

Sorry didn’t know I was only allowed to comment on shows still in production.

I think last year’s group was alright but the new panel doesn’t sound fantastic. Olympia Valance is probably the only good addition but I have no idea why Sonia Kruger was chosen as a judge (granted, they probably need to justify her massive salary, but still) or host of Big Brother (but that’s another story).

If I was in charge I’d get rid of Shane/Sonia and get a comedian like Adam Hills onboard with Gretel Killeen or Julia Zemiro replacing Sonia.

The cast is a little eh tbh. Shane Jacobson I like, don’t really mind Olympia I guess, but throwing Sonia in is a little random and Kyle Sandilands, where’d he come from?? Manu is starting to become bland on the talent show but he isn’t the worst. I’m quite sad Nicole and Lucy aren’t on the panel this year (I feel your loss and pain @Tom_TV7). Seven though could have thrown in other judges like Jessica Mauboy and Natalie Bassingthwaithe?

Hard pass

They would’ve been great additions too.

Why and how did this show get renewed… Again?

Because Seven’s reality cupboard is bare. They want a familiar reality format to fill their second half of the year.

The local versions of AGT and X Factor have just looked cheap for ages, especially compared to UK versions, or The Voice Australia.

I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Looks like when AOK had veneers put on his teeth a few years back ,:joy:

That’s not all he’s had done.

Agreed. Everything from presenter/judge choices, different variety of acts and overall visual effects look very good. Another element I thought was better than our version last year is the fact that BGT shows the bad acts that fail spectacularly and the talentless acts as well as the reactions and red buzzers. We never saw that last year and that takes away part of the entertainment. Pretty much all the acts we saw last year were those that got yesses and went through successfully.

I don’t think our version is going to go ahead this year so would be a good opportunity for Seven to consolidate their productions and whenever they decide to produce it (be it next year or 2022) to the same quality as BGT or even better.
