Australian Survivor

I think Australia v The World was filmed before Deal or No Deal Island.

There are 365 days in the year. Survivor would have filmed for about 16 days. Deal or No Deal Island probably less. He could probably have time to do another 3 seasons of Survivor.

Youre telling me they are only on the island 2 weeks!? No wonder they don’t lose any weight now. Old school Survivor used to be 3 months!

Wake up, @Drew_1981.

Survivor: Australia v The World will be a special shortened version.

Regular Survivor Australia is the standard length of over a month. The current one is 40 plus days.

I think old school US survivor was only ever 39 days. Australian survivor has always been just under 50. So it’s never been 3 months, but this one is just a special. So just over 2 weeks.

Deal or No Deal Island (season 2) was filmed July/August 2024 and Australia vs The World in September 2024. So he (and Parvati) pretty much did them back to back and obviously at the point that he agreed to this he hadn’t won the millions. Winning it I doubt would have changed his appetite for this though, he would care more about the title.

What will be interesting is that he and Parvati were very tight on DONDI in an alliance together until the very end (which felt much deeper than just an alliance too with the way they spoke about each other). So that will flow into this and the other cast mates won’t have seen that.

I believe the shortened season would have been the only way to get a lot of these people back. Parvati has previously said she wouldn’t do Survivor again. Janine didn’t come back for the first All Stars because she couldn’t spend that time away again. As much as I dislike it being 14 days (so it’s not really Survivor) it seems to have worked in convincing some of these iconic players to return for a much shorter stint.

Correct. Survivor has never been 3 months. The current US version is filmed for 26 days (they scaled back from 39 to 26 from season 40). I agree that to be Survivor it should be a bit longer but the average viewer won’t even notice the difference because they will probably just do a Tribal Council every day and this season will only likely be 10 episodes.

Myles Kuah Wins Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn II.

Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn II Crowns Its Winner.

From ā€˜Jungle Rat’ to Sole Survivor, Myles Kuah survived 47 days on the beaches of Samoa, outwitting, outplaying and outlasting 23 other castaways to become the winner of Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn II, earning him the glory and grand prize of $500,000.

"It’s absolutely everything, I went on thinking I’d have a fun time, there’s no chance I’d win. A zero percent chance I’d win,ā€ Myles said. ā€œIt’s a completely surreal way to cap off what was an incredible experience.

ā€œI think I achieved everything I could have imagined and then stuff I couldn’t have imagined achieving, like finding four idols.ā€

Having successfully blindsided Zara earlier in the week, it all came down to a brutal endurance challenge where our final three, Myles, AJ, and Kaelan, went head-to-head standing on a series of increasingly narrow bamboo pegs. While he had already broken the record for most individual immunity wins, Kaelan had something to prove and lasted more than three hours, earning him the immunity necklace for the seventh time.

The moment was made even sweeter with friends and loved ones watching as a tearful Kaelan realised he would have to make a difficult decision on who would be joining him at the final tribal. Ultimately, Kaelan made the bold choice to take Myles all the way to the end, and AJ became the final member of the jury.

At the final Tribal Council, both Myles and Kaelan made their pitches. Having both played exceptional but wildly different games, it all came down to a grilling from the jury who would be making one last difficult decision. And having broken his own record for having the most votes cast against him this season, it was finally time for Myles to enjoy seeing his name be pulled from the urn.

"Sitting there and pitching my game to the jury, going through all the moves that I had made and having the jury ask me all sorts of different questions was so surreal,ā€ Myles said.

ā€œI was just having such a fun time out there… I should have been voted out at the second vote. I got so incredibly lucky to not get voted out. From then on, I was mentally prepared and totally fine to get voted out at any time. Even when I was on the bottom, I was just happy to be there.ā€

Once again, in the battle of Brains versus Brawn, a Brain has reigned supreme, taking out the title of Sole Survivor and the grand prize of $500,000.

Well deserved Myles.

I can’t believe that twat won.

He even said himself he’s had a privileged upbringing so it continues..

I only watched tiny bits and pieces of this season but the fact that he found 4 Idols is ridiculous. There just shouldn’t be that many Idols available for one person to find and these gimmicks are the reason I stopped watching Aus Survivor. Whether it was producer interference or not, it really throws off the balance of the game. Nobody in 48 seasons of US Survivor has ever found 4 in a single season, and they actually scaled back on Idols when it started getting excessive. Even if he didn’t play them all for himself, they still gave him a huge advantage to control votes.

The rule has always been that there is one idol on each camp and maybe a few in rewards. This isn’t a gimmick. Since Hidden Immunity Idols were introduced it’s always been the case. Myles was able to find 4 because he played them. In past seasons of US and Australian Survivor the person who has had the idol has held onto it or not played it and gone home with it.

US has only recently made it so you have to do more to find the idol via the beware advantage but the rule still remains that if an idol is played it gets rehidden so you could still theoretically have 4 found in one season.

Rick Devens on S38 found and played 4 idols.

Miles was also in the same circle with TV working people before going in too. Just saying..

So why does that matter? What are you just saying?

He found 3 and had an advantage to steal one,

I think that’s a bit harsh. Out of the two in the final two he deserved the win. His game was a little messy but it was an interesting watch. I’m glad he won.

This was a great season. A very deserving final three, and also final four. There’s always luck in this game (and even more so in the US version with all their drawing rocks for tribe swaps, double eliminations etc). If Myles hadn’t won immunity when he did or Kaelan hadn’t won one of his the outcome would have been different. I would have been satisfied with any of the final four somehow winning but I feel the jury made a good decision on the night. Unfortunately for Kaelan, juries rarely reward his sort of game, no matter how subtlety strategic he thought it was. I find that I rarely like the decisions that the US juries make in recent years; a lot of vindictiveness seems to come into their decisions. The Australians all seemed to respect each other and were genuine friends, perhaps because they play for a lot longer.

Yeah I think this is why the US one has become a bit, as you put it vindictive. I feel there was more respect given to game play when the seasons were longer and they had longer to process it.

I think the ā€œsurvivingā€ aspect has long been an increasingly minor point of the show beyond the initial building of shelter. The show is all about the game really - the living conditions are very much secondary.

I just caught with the grand final this afternoon (I saw the second last episode while on holiday in Sydney last week).

Miles was very lucky to win because of the three immunity idols he found, and the one he stole at the tribal. I think either Logan or AJ should have been Sole Survivor because they played a better social game. I found it strange Miles that made a lot of rivals after the tribal merge, yet those eliminated campmates still voted for him (the final vote was 7-1, Kristin was the one who voted for Kaelan to win).

Overall it was another good season of Survivor. Looking forward to Australia v the World later this year.

I have said many times before, but 10 needs to bring back a live finale and reunion to Australian Survivor. The live finale and reunion have always been a feature of the original version.

One more question: given Morgan was not on the jury, what would have happened if the final tribal vote was tied at four-all?
