Australian Survivor

This is from automotive website GoAuto in August. Could it be the same Mimi Tang?

Surely they must be near the 24 now. Seem to have been releasing names for weeks.

Who?

All of the branding for the upcoming season looks very average IMO, not the best themed look they’ve had for the show.

The branding is always tenuous at best but they’re really stretching it here and we know within six episodes or so they’ll mix the tribes up anyway.

Never understand why the text for the theme is always so much larger than the Survivor logo, don’t think it does any justification for the brand or helps get the message across.

These one-by-one cast announcements have been a complete snoozefest.

I feel like this season is going to flop. The show well and truly jumped the shark for me last season with the level of gimmicky twists but definitely this time with all the gimmicky casting.

Australian Survivor: Heroes V Villains. Coming To 10 And 10 Play In January 2023.

Would you lie and manipulate your way to $500,000? Or is loyalty and mateship paramount? Find out whether good will prevail over evil, or if the nice guy finishes last when Australian Survivor: Heroes V Villains premieres on 10 and 10 Play in January 2023.

Pitting Villains against Heroes in the world’s toughest game, honour and integrity will go head-to-head with deception and duplicity, and to adjudicate the battle of the year, host Jonathan LaPaglia is back in Samoa where it all began.

With a huge returning cast, and even bigger new faces, this season is all thriller, no filler. From the memorable, to the heroic and controversial, here are your castaways…

Heroes

Queen Hayley Leake returns to the game as the only previous winner, alongside Survivor royalty, Nina Twine, who had her game cut short in Blood V Water and is ready to come back stronger than ever. Six years after Sam Webb played in the very first season in Samoa, he has returned, together with big wave surfer and Brains V Brawn finalist, Flick Palmateer, and the challenge beast, Shaun Hampson.

Sporting a buff for the first time is Hero Benjamin Law the ultimate slashie – author, broadcast journalist, writer and creator of The Family Law, LGBTQIA+ advocate and Survivor super fan.

He may have been your AFL team’s villain, but this former Essendon player David Zaharakis is playing for the Heroes, alongside actress Sharni Vinson, animal activist Rogue Rubin, jillaroo Paige Donald, lifeguard Matt Sharp and tourism pilot Gerry Geltch.

Villains

If you thought King George was returning for redemption, you’re wrong. This time, it’s George the terrible and he’s ready to steal his “rightful crown” from Hayley.

Helping George fly the flag for team Villains is third time returnee Shonee Bowtell as well as the first person in Australian Survivor to be blindsided with two Idols, Simon Mee. The joker returns in Jordie Hansen, alongside sneaky Steve who is back for revenge, and Australia’s most successful female poker player, Jackie Glazier.

New to the game is Miss World Australia; Sarah Marsch, Olympic pole vaulter Liz Parnov, news anchor Anjali Rao, real estate agent Fraser Lack, journalist Michael Warren and luxury car brand manager, Mimi Tang.

Heroes V Villains

Perhaps the biggest question Australian Survivor asks is how would you play the game? Do you follow your real-life moral code and play like a Hero or do you do whatever it takes to get ahead like a Villain would?

In 2023, Australian Survivor: Heroes V Villains will put that question to the ultimate test.

Loyalty, honour and mateship are all attributes a Hero brings to the game while Villains are shrewd, cunning and don’t mind bending the rules. And in this series, 24 players are about to show which side will come out triumphant.

Hosted by Jonathan LaPaglia, Australian Survivor returns for its eighth season and will push returning favourites and newcomers to their physical and mental limits in the jungles of Samoa.

Each player will compete for the ultimate prize of $500,000. And as the spirits of these ordinary yet extraordinary Australians are deprived of everyday basic comforts, with little more than the clothes on their back, they will need to outwit, outplay, and outlast each other to get to the end.

Across 47 days, these Heroes and Villains will take part in Reward Challenges, where they will compete for luxuries like food and camping essentials. In Immunity Challenges, they will play for Immunity from being voted out of the game at the next Tribal Council. At each Tribal Council, each tribe must vote out one of their own.

Australian Survivor: Heroes V Villains is an Endemol Shine Australia production for Network 10.
