Australian Survivor

To me this felt like either the producers didn’t do their research properly by putting them on an uninhabitable beach at night, or it was done on purpose to add drama. I just can’t see a beach like that flooding out of the blue as a one off.

Yep it was very obvious which is another reason that it didn’t need to be a 105min episode. There was no suspense at tribal council or anything. I actually said to my partner during the episode that to me he felt like a planted contestant to purposely play up the dumb clueless guy to make it a memorable first boot. Either that or he’s never watched an episode of Survivor in his life. Surely someone of his age knows that he needs to prove himself at camp on day one given he’s not going to be the strongest performer in challenges.

Someone mentioned it was a full moon. I remember the first season with Rupert and his shelter building efforts (digging a pit!!) that were completely wiped out by a big wave and rain

TFW the twist isn’t the Daily Bailey becoming a castaway :disappointed_relieved:

So what was the major twist that they advertised at Tribal Council… the host saying something along the lines of “The twist is that you have to vote someone out from this game”. Oh dear.

Looks like Idols come into play next week. I guess a reason to extend Sunday’s ep to 90+ mins duration :stuck_out_tongue:

The tribe voted Bianca out instead of Pete. Bianca later told News Corp she did not see this coming.

I was simply making reference to the promo department (not surprisingly) implying that there’s some sort of twist. Someone being voted out is not a twist (its a part of the game) and the hosts comment was (once again, not surprisingly) taken out of context.

Another decent episode last night, though alot of time was spent at camp and starting fires which was a bit boring. They need to try keep this show to 1 hour, any longer starts to wear out its welcome.

One thing the show can do without is the constant commentary by LaPaglia during challenges. We can see what is happening so don’t need his inane commentating.

Alot of it is stating the obvious I’d agree. It hasn’t filled me with rage yet though.

I actually didn’t think it was all that bad, often with 3 tribes you can’t always see what each team is doing at any one time so it’s good for keeping up with developments - especially when you’re not able to watch the screen the entire episode.

I read somewhere this commentating of the challenges was modeled on Jeff’s style of presenting after a few seasons when it first started. I can’t imagine it’s easy to do but adds to the overall vibe of the show in my opinion.

I think he does it because Jeff does.

I do agree about his comments during the challenge and I think it’s just that it doesn’t come as naturally to Jonathan as it does with Jeff. It’s a teething problem that can hopefully be ironed out after a few episodes as he finds his feet more into the hosting role.

They won’t. Last nights alleged 70 minute episode went for 77mins with ads. Sundays will be 90 mins but probably be 98-100mins.

They’re idiots. Stick to proper scheduled times!!!

If you look at early Survivor seasons without commentary, they played a music sound track and it was nowhere near as exciting as with a commentary - actually pretty dull and as mentioned often hard to tell who is winning looking at a TV screen.

isn’t that what I said before. That Sundays will be 100mins long and Mondays 75mins in length. All I can say is that they all do it, extending the show beyond 60mins or even 90mins.

I think you should reread cmo’s post…

Finally got around to watching and I was not impressed at all.

The pacing was so slow. Painfully slow. It’s great that you get to see some contestant interaction but when half of them come across as predictable and not very likable it sucks.

Firstly the red team. Apart from Kat I really dislike them. So did the team really play mind games with Kristie or was it in Kristie’s head. Really shoddy editing. I’m betting it was passive aggressive bullying.

Love the yellow team and was beyond excited when Kate got the victory.

I am so PO at Pete. You deliberately starve yourself because you don’t feel like eating then make a big song and dance about wanting to leave then you happily sit back and watch someone voted out. Gutless POS. I really hope he’s blue’s downfall. Absolutely stupid strategy but coming from a Meter Maid it isn’t surprising.

So yet again we have all the ‘pretty’ immature twenty somethings (and Lee the token Toolie) banding together to vote out the ones that don’t fit their clique. If this is going to be the running theme this show is going to be absolutely crap. 10 must have known this is what would happen when they overloaded the cast with all generic look alikes that think the same instead of having a balanced cast of all ages not just the token outliers. It makes for really shitty tv.

Couldn’t agree more with your comments Harriet. And yes, there is no depth in terms of cast personality - I’m supposing that Des (if he wasn’t a plant) was what they considered ‘balance’.

Survivor to be shown on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from next week.

Good decision from Ten. It will mean it will finish quicker but the dead night mid week is pointless. As others have mentioned if they are going to run dead one night it might as well be Sundays.
