Apparently Jonathan couldn’t commit to the filming dates of two seasons in a row. I wonder if that has changed though.
This is really great news. There is still no word on US Survivor starting up production anywhere yet in the USA (they seem to think it’s too expensive to do) so it’s great to hear that the Aussies are pressing ahead for a local version.
I also very much welcome this change to an inland location. It’s a constant criticism from super fans the constant use of beach locations in the US version in recent years - some of the inland locations of the past really made unique seasons and a change of scenery is always refreshing. I’ve never heard of Cloncurry but looking at it on google images it looks like a really nice location on a lake with a very Australian backdrop.
I would be shocked if they didn’t film two seasons though. It just seems better bang for buck. If there is time commitment on Jonathan’s side then you think they could even reduce season lengths and the number of contestants (to 16 or 18). I think that would be much better too as Aus Survivor does drag on too much pre-merge. There is talk when the US can go in production again that they are considering even doing 3 seasons in a row after the long break.
Good points there.
And perhaps the US version may film here. They could quarantine the contestants beforehand then film a full season. Would be good for jobs and production companies.
Is there any water or rivers in the area?
Any ideas when they will advertise for crew…I have a friend who needs to go and work as a video crew member
TV Tonight picking up the 2 seasons theory as well - it would make sense IMO for Ten to have one in the can for next year as well. Even if Fiji is back open for business presumaby they’ll be a bit of a backlog - not sure how many international versions film there.
Australian Survivor has been nominated in the best returning format category in the 2021 International Format Awards. It’s up against The Great British Bake Off, Dancing with the Stars USA, The Mole, Taskmaster and The Secret Song.
The winners will be announced online on April 13.
If applications are only open now for the new season, I think 10 is aiming to show it in October-November this year towards the end of official ratings survey.
I am pretty sure they have already started filming. I think this is for the next season.

Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn.
Coming Soon To 10 And 10 Play On Demand.
Survivors ready for an all-new twist? Welcome to Australian Survivor: Brain s V Brawn , a season that promises to be like no other.
With castaways pooled from all walks of life, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s an unfair match.
The Brains are outstanding in their chosen field and there’s much more to them than meets the eye. Dismissing them as simply book smart is the quickest way to get blindsided.
Careful strategists, they know when to bide their time and are strongest when their backs are against the wall.
Think Brawn are all muscle, no hustle? Think again. These castaways may be the doers in their professions but as we all know in this game, physical strength can only get you so far.
With a laser like mental focus, they’ll do what it takes to get their way. The smiling assassins who like to win, they know keeping friends close and enemies closer is the only way to be the last one standing.
Shot in the vast outback of North West Queensland, these castaways will need to be ready for a unique set of challenges. Who will outwit, outlast, and outplay to become Sole Survivor?
Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn is hosted by Jonathan LaPaglia and is produced by Endemol Shine Australia for Network 10.
a forgotten addition to look forward to…hopefully sooner
Can’t wait for this to return.

Could have wrapped. I’m pretty sure they were filming a few months ago.
According to an Instagram post by host Jonathan LaPaglia on May 2, filming has only just begun.

Production staff are still in outback Queensland so I believe the series is only a few weeks into filming.
I found it odd that WIN Television retweeted the news considering it isn’t likely the new season will premiere until after the affiliation switch (in the majority of their territories).
