Hahaha what a fail. Looks like Spartan couldn’t beat its own course against MAFS.
Was a great show. Shame all these Australian idiots couldn’t see it because of their obsession with this MAFS SHIT!!!
Beaten by ABC’s Grand Designs in Adelaide!
I think the course and team element was better than Ninja Warrior but other than that it’s basically exactly the same show. I don’t see this genre having long legs, even on Channel Nine later this year.
That’s a ridiculous comment.
How? MAFS is a terrible show and concept as I’ve said several times before, it shouldn’t be getting all the glory it is. What all these people see in it I fail to see. It really is just all contestants bitching and fighting with each other with no substance to it whatsoever. At least Spartan requires you to tackle an obstacle course and has substance to it.
I can bet you that if MAFS was doing well on Seven you will definitely not say that (trash or not).
When you say Spartan has substance, you do realise that it’s copied from Ninja, which also has substance. The Spartan is just a cheaper, nastier version of Ninja IMO.
Actually I commented on one of these forums the other day that I see it as Nine’s version of Yummy Mummys; MAFS should have failed just as badly as this did. I said that like with Yummy Mummys even if it was on Seven I would not watch it to protest to producers not to keep producing this kind of crap.
Except MAFS is actually an original format by Nine. Yummy Mummies is just a cheap rip off of The Real Housewives of Sydney/Melbourne.
Same deal with Ninja and Spartan.
EDIT: Scratch the Australian Original stuff, it was originally Danish.
An original shitty format. I can see that the guys at Nine were really working hard to come up with something here. Seriously, is people marrying each other without getting to know each other first the best they can come up with? It’s not something to be proud of.
I didn’t want to comment until I saw the show.
I am sorry this was NOT good. It was awful, unoriginal and lacked class. It was the worst thing I have watched in a long time. Everything from the concept to the timeslot to the pick in hosts were a copy of nine’s ninja. I wasn’t a fan of Ninja either but this was so much worse. It got what it deserved.
It’s not. It’s an overseas franchise. Originally a Danish program.
How do you explain that one @Tom_TV7???
Well there seem to be extreme opinions on both ends of the scale regarding Spartan since there are comments from other people on TV Tonight saying that they did really enjoy the show and it was the best thing they’ve seen in a long time so there you go. Clearly the haters outweighed the likers in this scenario unfortunately.
Yes you’re right. I had forgotten that Australian networks have pretty much no originality in any form. They always like emulating whatever seems to be working in UK, US etc.
When was the last time an Australian network originally created something?
There are plenty of original Aussie concepts and some are still on air now. Unfortunately it’s easier for the commercial networks to try an Australian version of a tested format rather than risk it with something new.
My Kitchen Rules?? Isn’t that an original format or did elements of it come from MasterChef?
Would The Block count?
Yes. It’s an original concept but they did copy elements from MasterChef and Come Dine With Me.
Same story but they copied elements from other reno shows and still do with their tweaks.
And likewise you can say that House Rules is an original concept but copies elements from The Block I suppose…
What about Instant Hotel from last year? I don’t recall there being any other overseas versions of this beforehand.
