As posted in Home and Away thread, the soap will have a 90-minute episode on Tuesday April 3 before taking a two-week Commonwealth Games break. This may give a hint on when the Australian Spartan grand final will be shown.
Finals Series begins 25 March
Aussie and Kiwi firefighters, a scientist, X Games athletes, a Hollywood stuntman and motocross champions are amongst the teams taking to the course when AUSTRALIAN SPARTAN’s finals series begins on Sunday, March 25 at 7.00pm.
Fifteen teams will compete for the five remaining places in the Australian Spartan semi-final.
The top-five placing teams will progress to Monday night’s (March 26 at 7.30pm) semi-final where they will face-off against proven performers TWO AND A HALF MEN, MIRACLES HAPPEN, BANKERS BY DAY, TOWNSVILLE UNDERDOGS, DONUT SQUAD, COCOA BUTTER, UNIT 5.5, CONQUER, TWO BADGERS, ONE ANCHOR and HEN’S PARTY for a place on the grand final on Monday, April 2 at 7.30pm.
The 10 grand finalists will compete in an extended Spartan course. From there, the two teams left standing out of the 10 grand finalists will race head-to-head in a spectacularly designed grand final course with the winning team taking home $150,000.
Hosted by Edwina Bartholomew and Hamish McLachlan, with Wendell Sailor as the program’s sideline reporter, AUSTRALIAN SPARTAN can only be conquered by a truly unified team of three and takes place on the biggest course built in the country.
Teams race across a series of specially designed obstacles engineered to challenge their ability to work together as a group and challenge their physical and mental toughness. In the end, only one team will rise to become the ultimate Australian Spartan champions.

Monday 26 March at 7.30pm Semi Final
Monday 2 April at 7.30pm Grand Final
It looks like the final two heats have been edited into one single episode.
I am surprised that they did that. I know the show flopped but you would think that Spartan would rate better than whatever filler shows 7 plan to air during the Easter Break.
The semi final will be shown in New Zealand first, on TVNZ 1 this Sunday night. Synopsis according to TVNZ online guide:
Tonight, this demanding obstacle course is impossible to conquer alone! The remaining teams test their endurance as they compete in the Semi Final of Australian Spartan. Who will triumph?

X GAMES SYDNEY LEAD THE CHARGE TO THE FINALS
It was a strong finish for the top five placed teams in tonight’s Australian Spartan finals decider with all teams making it to the grueling last obstacle, the leap of faith.
X GAMES SYDNEY finished on top of the leaderboard edging out Western’s Australia’s DREAM TEAM who were followed closely by BENNY AND THE JETS from New South Wales in third place. Queensland’s VP VANGUARD finished in fourth place with New Zealand’s JAMES AND THE PEACHES placing fifth.
The tyre swing once again proved it’s much harder to conquer than it looks ending grand final hopes for GC FIRE, APRARTMENT 38, FLAMING KIWIS, BARKANDJI EAGLES and TEAM LEDA.
The STUNTIES and BEASTMODE faced defeat at the hands of the angle grinder, while LEGENDS OF THE WEST fell short at the titling bridge. But the biggest disappointment of the night was felt by THE SURVIVORS, who were eliminated when a team member sprained their ankle jumping down from the starting obstacle.
In tonight’s semi-final: From 60 teams to the top 15, the course will get bigger, longer and tougher and a shock exit will leave the arena speechless…

Five teams reached the Leap of Faith in last night’s episode but all failed to land on the mat to complete the course. VP Vanguard had the fastest time (4.5 minutes).
Tonight’s semi final had an additional obstacle: Speed Links: a series of uneven swinging rings which each team must cross inside two minutes. The human ladder returned, while the water gauntlet had also been extended with a 5m underwater swim at the end.
AUSTRALIAN SPARTAN GRAND FINALISTS DECIDED
The toughest obstacle course in the country became even tougher tonight as the semi-final of Australian Spartan took no prisoners.
Only three teams were able to reach the finish line with more obstacles to overcome than ever: Queensland trio COCOA BUTTER, a male performer and his best mates DREAM TEAM and the awe-inspiring TOWNSVILLE UNDERDOGS secured their place in the grand final and one step closer to $150,000 in prize money.
Even though they literally fell at the last hurdle, the Leap of Faith, earning their grand final place were professional FMX riders X GAMES SYDNEY and Kiwi fitness gurus, CONQUER.
Accomplished Spartan racers VP VANGUARD weren’t far behind getting timed out on the iconic Slip Face.
Keeping competitors on their toes, Australian Spartan introduced a new obstacle tonight, a series of floating tyres dubbed Speed Links, that got the better of NSW North Shore team BENNY AND THE JETS.
Making noteworthy performances were fan favourites UNIT 5.5, WA Police Officers DONUT SQUAD and Adelaide’s finest TWO AND A HALF MEN.
NEXT MONDAY 2 APRIL 7.30pm THE GRAND FINAL - It’s anyone game as all ten grand final teams will race once more on the Spartan course. From there the two top finishers will go head-to-head in a specially designed challenge where the winner of Australian Spartan will be crowned. Plus, jaws will hit the floor when one team comes undone mid race in most spectacular fashion.

The semi final changed the fortunes of the 15 teams. Dream Team and Townsville Underdogs were able to complete the course even though they failed in their respective heats, while others such as VP Vanguard which reached the Leap of Faith in their heats, actually went backwards.
Despite the first season of Australian Spartan not rating very well Seven’s Angus Ross says about the second season “We’ll be definitely looking to run it within the ratings period.”

X GAMES SYDNEY CROWNED AUSTRALIAN SPARTAN CHAMPIONS
Cheeky adrenalin junkies X GAMES SYDNEY, aka motocross riders Josh Sheehan, Harry Bink and Jackson Strong, claimed a stunning victory and $150,000 prize money in tonight’s AUSTRALIAN SPARTAN Grand Final after racing head-to-head with South Australia’s TWO AND A HALF MEN.
X GAMES SYDNEY started strong in the Grand Final showdown climbing the Mega Slip Face without a hitch. Jake Markham, Levi Produde and Sean Kordic from TWO AND HALF MEN were in the game right up until the Mega Slip Face, but Jake’s grip wasn’t firm enough and once the team slipped, there was no coming back.
“The energy is absolutely ecstatic tonight. We were stoked to get through that thing. It was a whole lot of fun,” said Jackson of the team’s win.
Conceding defeat, TWO AND A HALF MEN’s Levi admitted they couldn’t match their competitor’s speed, saying they were like “bloody spider monkey’s” travelling up the Slip Face.
The two teams went head-to-head after out-pacing eight other teams during the night’s earlier qualifying round which saw fan favorites COCOA BUTTER also finish the course, but not with a time fast enough to secure a place in the showdown.
UNIT 5.5’s Grand Final run came to an end on the Leap of Faith when team member Phil was left hanging (after losing his prosthetic leg) while his team mates had landed successfully.
“Coming off the Slip Face, I lost my leg, so it threw me off my swing,” said Phil. “I couldn’t get it properly, but I’m very happy that we came so far. I couldn’t have done it without my boys here,” he said paying tribute to team mates Brandon and Simon.
While it was a dramatic end for UNIT 5.5, it was a frustrating exit for VP VANGUARD and DREAM TEAM. Both teams were eliminated for feet skimming the water during the Angle Grinder obstacle.
Out of the four teams which successfully completed the course, X Games Sydney had a very quick pace, and deservedly won the final round.
I heard from TVTonight saying that there will be another season of Australian Spartan coming up in 2019.
That’s because they filmed the 2 seasons back to back before the first screened. It is likely to be a online only show like Yummy Mummies given the ratings for the first season.
I’m surprise because Tim Warner really doesn’t think online is the future of tv…
Well either online or they will shove it on to one of their multichannels. I can’t see it being shown on the main channel again.
I was making a joke at Tims expense after his comments about Love Island
