Tickets to the grand finals are now available from That’s the Ticket Australia website.
Night 1 will be filmed on Sunday March 24. Arrival time is 4.40pm Sydney time, with the session expected to finish at 8.45pm. It is the first time this season the Sunday episode is taped on the same day.
Night 2 (including winner announcement) will be filmed on Monday March 25. Arrival time is 5pm with the session expected to finish at 9.15pm.
So the performances which were normally filmed 24 or 48 hours prior to airing will be actually Live or just a smaller difference?
Monday results seems to be Live as usual.
The show has introduced a 10 votes per person limit for this week, due to the sheer volume of SMS votes cast last week (6 million+). You can put all 10 votes on one contestant, or spread the votes on multiple contestants.
Why?
So that the voting system won’t crash.
That’s not our problem.
I think that’s very unfair.
Last year’s winner Royston Sagigi-Baira, and Kate Miller-Heidke will perform on tonight’s show.

For most people text messages are included in their plan so it doesn’t cost any extra so it has to be a limit on their backend. But I agree their systems should be able to handle 20 million messages should that occur. But given that they stopped allowing premium numbers I would understand there would be a budget in spend that can be allowed to be spent on voting which would have contributed to the 10 vote limit. As additional infrastructure would be needed if they did not have any limit. Previously because voting cost 55 cents from memory that would have limited the votes so would not have been a problem back in 2004.
I am glad that they are applying a limit. A lot of these small towns have obviously been voting excessively for contestants (given 5/6 remaining are from country towns) which would skew results. Finally we might see the likes of Trent and Isaac go who IMO don’t deserve to be in the final.
A limit is unnecessary.
It’s not fair. If you’re going to apply a limit it should be done from the beginning of the season, not half way through. It’s not right.
I don’t agree. The result should represent the overall voting audience and not who has a town or support base that is investing excessive votes for them. Many shows have limits. I’m watching UK Celebrity Big Brother at the moment and viewers can only vote 5 times at an eviction.
It should have been in there from the start. If it means that a contestants like Trent has more support then others that is no different to what would happen once the show finishes.
I like the judges’ decision to not use their save so that all six contestants would be up for viewer vote. I feel judges’ save should not have been available this week.
Not really. One person can’t attend a concert multiple times, there’s a limit of individual streams per user that actually counts towards charts and people aren’t buying/downloading the same music multiple times for themselves. So being able to vote an unlimited time is not reflective of the real world - it means contestants with a big loyal home support base have a huge advantage. I agree that the limit should have been there from the start but better late than never IMO. Especially with 3 going home.
They did the exact same thing last year at this point. I could see this coming.
Just to be clear. Did Kyle insinuate that Australia got it wrong with the winner last year?
When they were giving the voting numbers at the end and Marcia was saying you really do have to vote for your favourites I’m sure he said yes you do as we know Australia got it wrong last year.
If so, how awkward to say on the same night Royston was there lol.
I heard it as something like “as we know Australia has got it wrong before” and thought it might have been another comment for Ricki-Lee or even for earlier in the season where a couple have got out that were a surprise.

Oh, okay. I just thought cause they were talking about this vote being important for finding the winner that he meant Royston.
Yeah, it was a bit hard to hear and I wondered the same about if I’d misheard - would be really poor form if it was that though!
