Australian Idol

Scott claimed it’s the biggest studio audience in idol history.

I distinctly remember an enormous crowd out front of the opera house in ‘09 and the studio they’re in now looks tiny.

You seriously don’t think all 4 will use it? Totally will happen. As you said, its part of the producer driven narrative of the show.

It is actually a part of the show where each judge has 1 touchdown to give over the top 24 performances, to fast track the contestants to the next round. It’s not really much different to say the golden buzzer on AGT. I actually enjoyed this addition.

Agree. It’s easy to be a keyboard warrior.

I thought the show as pretty good last night too and I have not sat and watched a talent performance show in years. It started a bit slow but got better as it went on. I loved how hyped up the crowd got towards the end screaming for touchdowns and booing the negative comments. At the same time was good for the judges to give honest critiques. This is what Idol is about.

I was a bit iffy on some of the judges choices though. In the previous Aus Idol seasons these rounds would be viewer voted. I think we would have had a couple of different people in the top 12 if that was the case.

It’s also easy to be objective when you don’t blindly accept every reality show as the greatest thing on television ever.

Wow aren’t you clever with your blanket statements.

If you are suggesting that I do, then you are clearly very selective on what you read and might want to scroll up a bit.

Also being objective is not watching something for 5 minutes and then needing to jump on a forum to call something “painful”, “embarrassing” and “lackluster.”

I believe that’s ‘Made You Look’

I always see that song as a sequel to her 2014 smash hit “All About That Bass”.

Lol. Hard to tell the difference.

Clearly you were selective with reading my comments. I said I was forced to watch this show last night so my comments about the show being lacklustre, Amy Shark delivering the Touchdown as embarrassing and it being painful watching the judges and performances is objective.

I havent been a big fan of these talent show for a very long time but I have to say that Seven did a great job with breathing new life into The Voice but it has not been the same for Australian Idol.

You want to watch shoddy programs then go right ahead. Please convince us how wonderful this show is by telling us what was so outstanding.

Big Brother in its original live and unsanitised format with the right mix of Housemates and production tasks could definitely rival MAFS. However, it would be very expensive with a large risk of failure (given the brand damage recent pre-packaged seasons have done) and Seven execs don’t like taking risks these days.

Hmmm. Meghan Trainor was very good in the audition rounds. However, she seems to be struggling to give good live commentary.

Kyle used his touchdown on the second act tonight.

Speaking of Meghan Trainor, she seems to say “OMG, I have missed you soooo much” with almost every contestant. The average viewer might not register, thinking she was only away for a week (with Marcia filling in last week), but it has been a few months between gigs.

If they opt for another season they will need to shakeup the judges.

Kyle hasn’t done much for me me, the two Americans can go. Amy perhaps keep. Marcia needs to become a permanent judge. And 3 judges not 4.

The ship has probably sailed and the format won’t be a in the million club no matter how you tweak it, which is where one what’s such a show in its budget range.

Too much red cordial from Meghan Trainor tonight? Squealing more than usual…

Is this really the best we have? These people are extremely sub par. How is this Top 24? Absolutely awful and painful show tonight.

I’d want to see someone actually make a big name for themselves on this show, but I think that ship has sailed now. It’s pretty much the same as The Voice now with them rushing through everything and being ‘overly positive’ without the snark and criticism from the judges about goofy contestants. BOH-ring.

If Seven had respected the true core of the show and didn’t have so much producer interference with the format, plus a better judging panel (I’d love to see a panel of Marcia, Amy, Meghan and someone like Rob Mills), the show would’ve rated at least 600-700K. Instead this same repetitive ‘feel good’ stuff is just wallowing in mediocrity and it might even do some damage to The Voice.

You speak the truth. Watch out! The fan bois will come after you. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Only they are allowed to bag the show it seems. :joy:

Yeah I think out of the Top 24 there is only like 3-4 great singers

The judges are definitely hearing something that we at home are not :eyes:
