New?
Old logo, but now on a circle rather than an oddly shaped triangle.
Has been since 2018 (according to Facebook). Didn’t think Power FM SA ever had the triangle.
Thanks for the heads-up, thought all the Power FMers had that triangle logo, except in Qld re Power 100. 2018 probably new for me in this case anyway since last looking at their website
Power SA have been different for a while given the number of frequencies they have.
I do, however, prefer their version of the logo minus the triangle.
Trainwreck programming. I was in Western Vic for a couple of weeks and Power FM’s playlist was a complete disaster, heaps of daggy old Aussie rock songs mixed with new and recent hit music.
there using the same format as krock in geelong
No, Krock doesn’t play Gangajang
Somehow looks like Power100 has escaped networking so far? I’d spread that format out a bit - pair it in two station markets with an actual Hot AC format. Closer to what they do on their Magic stations in SA than what’s on Power FM/Krock.
i think powerfm ,3ba has got a new pd or md
No doubt the installation of a new Power FM translator earmarked for 103.9 is included in this.
Rod will join the business with extensive Radio & TV industry experience being previously employed by SCA for over 15 years. Starting in a promotional role he then moved into Sales, General Manager and then Regional General Manager for several markets including Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Southern NSW.
He starts on his new role on 1st February 2021.
Naturally they’ll be hoping they are onto a winner with that move!
Sorry, couldn’t resist!
Who is the existing GM at Hot 91 and where are they going?
Just my two cents but River 94.9 isn’t what it once was. It has no profile anymore. It used to be a true alternative to the Brisbane stations but it just seems so un-original these days and doesn’t offer enough to attract listeners, especially given the multitude of DAB options now available in Ipswich at least.
I really miss the old Star 106.9 and QFM.
Softer AC is the gap in Brisbane and River is missing the opportunity.
It doesn’t help that the music playlist that is being heard on River 94.9 is also being heard on Bay 93.9 Geelong, 3BA Ballarat, LAFM Launceston, 7SD Scottsdale, 7XS Queenstown & Mix 104.9 Darwin. In other words, its music is not entirely tailored to the Ipswich market.
But yes, I agree with you that River is not as good as it once was.
If I’m in SEQ, I’d just stick with Rebel, Breeze, Bridge & 4KQ.
IMO the only time power is enjoyable now days is only during the possible during the afternoon with the home run but most definitely at night when they have the highlights from wippa and Fitzy and the random 30 and yet the breakfast show and the 15 song no adbreak from 9till 10am the the weekeday hits is aimed at people my age (36) i dont like it
Yeah the music is the biggest problem. It’s all over the place - and not in a good way.
And yes the only ‘local’ (non DAB) stations I listen to these days are those four - Rebel, Breeze, Bridge and 4KQ. Occasionally I might stray onto 4BH. Of the FM’s Bridge is a real improver these days and often find myself on 99.7 if I’m not on DAB. Rebel and Breeze are always consistently good.
River actually isn’t even on my pre-sets anymore.
grants IMO have destroyed their radio stations with the new format for there top40 radio station especially. it’s now a mix of the top 40, the 80s and 90 and 2000s music . and there trying to turn their ac stations into a top 40 station
