ARN Regional (formerly Grant Broadcasters)

I think 91.1 Hot FM have gone a bit too far with this one…

It actually says: WAKE THE FUCK UP.

Hardly at all. I find it an amusing slogan for their brekkie program. Definitely sums up my thoughts in the morning when running late

insert joke about this tagline as something ARN would use for K&JO over on KIIS here

What’s the context of the advertising? Where is it published?

It has been their campaign for quite some time now. Pre-going number one, so it must’ve worked for Hot91.

Except it doesn’t. That’s just what you’ve made up.

There’s very clearly a C and a K underneath the tape.

While this isn’t happening (still airing 7-10am Sundays in Sydney and Melbourne), the show is now being heard across ARN’s Regional classic hits stream.

Barry Drinkwater is no longer part of the River94.9 line-up.

Has he moved into the PD role there?

First time I have ever heard Radio Hunter Valley being considered biased. Context: people are complaining about Upper Hunter SC raising rates. I think this is one of the councillors putting their side of the story. Also, this is from a communiry Facebook group, so you know they’re not the best and brightest.

From what I’ve heard, there is a growing dissatisfaction from the community in how Council operates - thats getting some coverage that isn’t always considered to be fair or reasoned (that happens). I did see one bit of coverage that at best was cherry picking a bad stat without giving any coverage to others in the same source report.

Council bashing is the media seems to be in vogue at the moment - especially given many are considering (or seeking) to raise rates to meet increasing costs and expected service levels.

Yup. It’s low hanging fruit. Just that I’ve never heard 2NM/Power FM being accussed of it.

I’d bash Blacktown City Council for sponsoring the Giants who use Orange Tsunami as a slogan as it is in poor taste. There were several areas of the LGA that keep getting placed by floods. Trust me on this, Ive lived through 3 floods, 2 where I was told to evacuate and 1 where it caused damage.

Maybe concentrate on bins and roads? Not fucking pathetic excuses for AFL teams that should be in hell, Tasmania or Canberra.

Some of the comments I’ve seen this morning on 2NM’s facebook page suggest they’ve taken quite an interest in one particular council and it’s been noticed by some listeners.

I doubt they’re doing anything different - it’s just that it’s being noticed more (and people are more willing to call it out).

But good on NM/Power for actually doing local news that stirred anyone up. Most local news bulletins are useful as the stale noodle updates on TV.

Absolutely. They’re doing their job. That’s how a democracy works.
Democracy dies when media outlets are cut back to the point where they can’t do their job effectively. Or at all.

Interestingly, they brought up Bruz making comments about pork barrelling in the Upper Hunter that was ignored by most - it took your friend and ours Friendly Jordies to share 2NM’s story

Power 100 Townsville breakfast team Archie & Donny is moving across to Star 106.3 breakfast. Star’s current breakfast host Dannii will move to mornings with a live DJ mix in the studio at Midday, whilst over at Power 100, Wildy will move into breakfast.
