What’s even more disgraceful is that this sort of stuff is leaked. That’s just plain inappropriate. I don’t think you can say that other newsreaders haven’t expressed their disdains off air before like them, it’s just that it was documented illegally on this occasion.
But you said ‘at work’ not ‘on set with hot mic’ and you said their language is disgraceful.
We need to be careful about throwing around names of people who could be responsible for the leak. Even if it is meant as a joke, Seven’s legal team won’t see it that way.
Well if I didn’t make it clear then I’ll make it clear now - they are silly to discuss a contentious news item on set with a hot mic and swearing. My apologies, I should’ve been clearer.
No need to apologise. Thanks for clearing it up.
I’ve seen quite a lot of members getting worked up about this sort of ‘incident’ thinking it’s the be-alls and end-alls for the presenters involved. Quite frankly, it’s not.
Plus for all the crap that Mike and Bec has received, surely people haven’t forgot Amber Sherlock’s mini little outburst over what Julie Snook was wearing right? It seems to me that that incident has been completely overlooked even though it was a bigger mountain out of a smaller molehill.
Mike and Bec are only humans. If they need to apologise then I reckon nearly half of the industry needs to apologise for something they said off-air at a certain point of their careers. It’s unnecessary.
I’d never heard my late dad swear or be at all inappropriate until I spent a day at work with him when i was 14 or 15 and that was a quite while ago.
Seems to me the usual outraged snowflakes have resorted to being prudish wonders complaining how rude their language was given how 99% agree with what they said and their getting nowhere with their usual anti government, anti vaccine rubbish. Fuck these culture wars about everything single aspect of our lives.
Well I thought it made them look human and personable and that they had a good off air relationship. It made it look like Bec was fitting right into her new role.
That’s the best way of putting it. Loosens things up a bit. Honestly it has changed my opinion about Amor. I always thought he was a quiet reserved almost stuck up kind of dude. No way. I now want to buy him a drink and have a chat lol
Well they didn’t accidently call Djokovic an arsehole tonight.
I don’t mind Mike Amor and have thought he’s alright since his years in the US as that was when we mostly saw him but it was good to see another side and certainly didn’t phase me. However, if you do go out and buy him a drink I’d like to come to and I’ll bring Peter Hitchener because I know people above said he wouldn’t use that language but I reckon we could get him to say a few choice words!
I posted the full version of the video but in a different thread. But it got taken down. I can’t find it.
This right here.
Executive A: “Oh noes our freshly minted presenting duo have gone viral making a very uncontroversial statement using some mean words!”
Executive B: “We definitely shouldn’t put out a strongly worded statement so it stays in the newscycle longer, that would mean more attention!”
Meanwhile the marketing department is popping champagne corks
I reckon he’d probably have the dirtiest mouth out of all the anchors in Australia.
The story got a mention on Nine News Melbourne
I’d comment on this but the last time I said something about Mike he outed me on his Insta lols
Let’s just say I might have a newfound love for the man (and Bec)
Its always the ones you least expect - I work with someone who everyone thinks would never swear, but my god they put Malcolm Tucker to shame.
How the he’ll would you know…? Seriously, I would be worried if Peter was even human if he didn’t. Jesus.
The whole Amor/Maddern video reminds me of this blooper from Ten News Brisbane back in 2000. Although this one was carelessness from the presenters and this went to air live. News blooper - host calls her husband an arsehole on air - YouTube
Or what about the Naomi Robson reel? She didn’t care she was mic’d up
