I feel like you are stuck in a mindset of 15 years ago. There was only a very small period where being on a talent show seemed to automatically equate to immediate success. It is much harder these days for artists to push through so if they do it’s full props to them.

Seven has acquired the rights to American Idol. The first episode of season 22 (the final season featuring Katy Perry as judge) will be available at 7plus at 3pm AEDT today.

Also, the episode scheduled for April 29 (April 30 on 7plus) will be dedicated to gospel singer and season 5 contestant Mandisa Hundley, who died in her Nashville home last week at 47. In 2014, Mandisa won a Grammy in the Best Contemporary Christian music category for her record Overcomer.
