No don’t recall hearing either of those. There is a very good line of sight back towards Sydney from here, not so much to the south west. And a bit further north than Bstemans Bay.

I was in a new location for this one. Only northern tropo (mostly) unfortunately. At least I’ve marked off Port Macquarie…

Nope, it doesn’t. However the 90.5 Cooma (town) translator does have it, ‘MonaroFM’.

I’ll check 100.3 Braidwood for you this morning. It was still using the dreaded FFFF last time I checked.

Unlikely to have changed unless someone contacts the local council to highlight the issue & council authorise a technician to change the PI code.

BTW we’re still seeking to garner more vehicle manufacture models, makes & year of manufacture data for those vehicles that do & don’t decode RDS with a PI of FFFF to add to our lists to use as evidence to broadcasters or their technicians that problem PI codes need to change to ensure that close to 100% of folk can decode the station’s RDS.

Sounds like an excellent log from an excellent viewpoint over an excellent part of the word in far from excellent weather. Definitely pushing the limits I reckon of what is receivable there in non-DX conditions.

Even in a fairly populated area like Lakes, the dial is far from crowded. I wonder how much fun you could have with a radio in the right conditions in summer there.

I have some video on my phone from April during one of the unseasonable VIC heatwaves back then; had plenty of Tassie stuff including 94.9 7AD/t.

At the time of your bandscan, it was actually warmer in Bungendore than Lakes Entrance as we had a brief spike at 9C!

96.9 Genoa was on air but faulty last time I was down there (April). The audio was distorted and cutting out completely on and off. I sent them a FB message about it ages ago but surprise surprise, no reply. A shame as I’m a fan of 3MGB.

That’s too hot! Now you’ll definitely have to move!

It seems to be one of the more bespoke regional community stations from the little I’ve heard of it on the main 101.7 Mallacoota TX, which was still on air .. the music was definitely nothing like Tay Tay.

Bungendore doesn’t have especially low daytime temperatures- and is downright hot in summer. We also get about 350 days of sunshine a year and it’s very rarely cloudy for long. Evenings and mornings are cold, no doubt about it, but even in winter it can be surprisingly warm in the daytime.

3MGB is a laid back station. 2SEA is also laid back but a bit slicker. I enjoy all the community stations on the South Coast, with 2UUU being probably the best sounding.

Just realised @Radiohead that you did not receive 3HCR Omeo on 97.3. That should have definitely been there given that you had 90.1. It was on air in April and also in January (when I went to Mount Hotham) but was off air for a long while before that. The studio looked pretty much abandoned when I visited it in January, no live programming.

I don’t recall hearing 3HCR, but that’s not to say it wasn’t there!

A good log today, Foster North Lookout, weather still pretty average with showers on and off, but at a comparatively balmy 11 degrees. This log a mix of TEF and car radio notes in between showers!

I saw a video on a Facebook Radio & TV group from someone In Shepparton recieving test transmissions from 1566 3NE which is due to switch to 92.1FM on Monday be Interesting to see when Colac, Hamilton, Horsham & Swan Hill convert to FM.

What is this one running- SEN Track like 91.9? 91.3 and 91.9 used to be Kids FM outlets.

Great effort from there. That one gets out fairly well though as I heard it from Mount Hotham. As an aside, it’s probably one of the best community radio stations in Australia in terms of local content, almost like a regional 3PBS. I’m wondering how they get so many local presenters with a relatively small catchment area.

Probably 7NT/t Devonport.

Good effort to get Hobart too in mid winter. I did the same several years ago from Cape Liptrap, suggesting that it might be permanent into far South Gippsland.

I’m surprised you didn’t get 7SEA Devonport on 107.7; that seemed to be permanent in and around Port Welshpool etc.

Yes, SEN Track.

Don’t recall hearing anything on 107.7, but again could have been there.

Hopefully you steered clear of the steak and mushroom pies.

Never been a pie fan, Collingwood or the edible variety!

Castlemaine is the Brunswick of regional Victoria - albeit (I dare say) with a higher median age, which lends itself to people with time to actively contribute to volunteering.

Maybe they should set up a tribute Franco Cozzo store then?

From what I’ve heard though, many of the presenters are Gen X and younger. I even contemplated visiting them to see what it is they’re doing right. Braidwood has an artsy lean as well these days, though its population still skews older.

Stations like Highland FM Bowral are heavily dominated by Baby Boomer presenters, though, and they are struggling to onboard people. Youth Radio Southern Highlands bit the dust entirely.

It would be a shame to see 3WM’s 1089 frequency go away, since it’s one of the stronger signals which cover most of Victoria, along with the ABC on 594. If I’m not mistaken 3WM already has been transmitting on FM in a few towns (Nhill and Stawell if I’m not mistaken)
