AM and FM DX

A nice bit of inland lift tonight.

A rarer catch was 103.1 Classic FM Tamworth, as Hope 103.2 was also not enhanced.

Had a couple more Mt Dowe services than usual, i often only get 96.7, but 99.1, 99.9 and 100.7 were also heard.

One interesting thing i noticed that’s probably of interest to the DX crew - tonight i also had Real FM Mudgee / Kandos on both 93.1 and 97.9, but whilst 93.1 was broadcasting the sounds of silence, 97.9 had music with a Real FM ID, I had always assumed 97.9 would have been fed off air by 93.1.

Also had the usual suspects from Batemans Bay, Canberra, SW Slopes, Orange plus 106.3 and 107.1 from the CW Slopes. 2MCE 92.3 Bathurst also received.

ABHN-5 went to 5A in late 1976 going by ABCB Annual reports.

The original transmitter ended up in Castlemaine Vic and part of it was used by a community FM station transmitting from Mt Alexander on a temporary license for a while. (Central Vic Gospel Radio on 104.7 MHz, ERP about 1kW iirc).

Just uploaded a historical recording to SoundCloud and noticed a previous DX clip of NZ FM ESkip into Brisbane from 1990s I thought I would re-share

Kiwi FM? Might be early 2000’s.

I know someone was tuned in, but, sorry, DX is priority. Sydney and NSW into Melbourne right now.

Getting Hobart JJJ into Sunshine Coast

Suspect I had 89.5 3PNN Bendigo earlier & 93.9 7ABCFM Hobart moments ago.
I can’t recall having SpE this late in the season before. Not complaining obviously :slightly_smiling_face:

Update:
91.7 7NT Northern Tasmania there too.

Similar here, Brief RDS fade up

Also had Bryan Ferry “Let’s Stick Together” sticking through underneath on 93.9 briefly, suspect Geelong given I also heard

89.5 ABC Local (Apollo Bay?)
89.7 JJJ (Warrnambool?)
91.3 News (also Warrnambool)
91.7 7NT Launceston
102.7 JJJ (Rosebery?)

Receiving Hobart in Brisbane as well.

That’s probably more than likely what I heard too (and not 3PNN Bendigo), given 91.1 Bendigo wasn’t heard at the time. :+1:

Also just got

104.3 HPON Hobart (Vision)

Faded up to 22dbuv briefly and RDS light flashed up but signal faded just as quickly :slightly_frowning_face:

First time catch here, signals very erratic with this event.

In Brisbane as well as the Eskip there is toppo happening to complicate identification. Middle Brother, Mt Dowe incl commercials and Inverell from the south plus Rockhampton off the back of the antenna.

Autolog picked up hit 102.3 and KISS Brisbane here in Melbourne, shame I haven’t been looking at mediaspy.

Update: Es still seems to be around, just had really strong horse racing on 102.1.

Bloody hell- Sydney into Melbourne is an achievement, particularly given the date. Has to be extremely intense Es for that.

I’ve packed away the gear and with storms nearly every day this week, it’s not worth the risk having the antenna in.

Pure dumb luck that I happened upon it tonight.

97.5 TAB Blackwater was caught on the other Melb webserver in past hour.
Thought the dx had faded but 93.9 Hobart still around atm in Sydney.

Though very little in between, Canberra stations less stable than when there is even light tropo. Heard nothing else of note tonight.
