Some impressive DX this morning at Boambee Headland. Of note…
Kingaroy 89.1 strong but not enough to decode RDS. First time heard at Boambee.
Gold Coast in at enhanced levels
Warwick with RDS 91.9.
The usuals from Brisbane, Ipswich, Port Stephens and Newcastle.
Sydney and Central Coast also noted.
Max FM Taree over local 2BBB with RDS, ABC Classic Darling Downs also noted.
No, there are usually weak to fair
Troppo from the north again today up to low level from Mackay.
Just went for a bit of a walk to a park where it’s North Facing and this came over the Gib via Tropo
Newcastle Commercials and Community stations.
Middle Brother ABCs were strong today.
RDS on 101.5 “GLFM” with Canberra nulled
Port Macquarie on 100.7 and 102.3 with Goulburn/Canberra nulled.
Coffs ABCs on 90.7 and 91.5
Plus I did finally get RDS on 88.7
Imagine if I was on the North Facing side of the Gib and what I would had received.
Up in Port Macquarie on holidays, and have managed to receive 101.9 Paradise FM from Ballina with RDS on the Subaru car radio. Pretty impressive for a station from nearly 300km away!
I could also get some of the Mt Nardi nationals, as well as ZZZ. Some of the Newcastle stations came in, as well as a weak WS from Sydney & possibly i98 from Wollongong.
@TV-Expert - a trip up North Bro might be worth it? Keep an ear out for Lord Howe on 100.1 if you do.
I’m not sure if I’ll make it up there. The weather up there may be cooler than back home, temp-wise, but is very humid, almost to the point that I’m missing the weather back home, where even though the temps are higher, it’s at least not nearly as humid.
And in case anyone is curious, SBS Chill is still on-air on 107.7, which makes it a worthy alternative to the local Hit/MMM.
Nice catches!
Any 2GF with RDS on 89.5, or FM104.7 Grafton?
I did receive both of them on Thursday night on my Sangean DPR-34, but no RDS on either of them.
Stress that point with your heat loathing mother I reckon the Comboyne Plateau would be cooler as well. An area that’s almost totally off the tourist map.
Massive tropo to Wollongong this afternoon, along with Sydney. Tomorrow morning looks like it will be a good one too.
Those E-NE seabreezes should persist under the very hot airmass, so yes I would expect tropo to be excellent through the night and into tomorrow morning along the coast. The duct probably won’t extend too far inland as we are under dry, hot westerlies here.
Had an interesting catch earlier this evening whilst walking along the beach just south of Port Macquarie CBD. On my DPR-34, I have managed to get 88.9 2RBR Coraki over 2RE Taree in areas where there’s a good view north towards Crescent Head. Away from the beach, 2RE occupies the 88.9 frequency.
Just inland from the beach, on my Tecsun, I could get weak Armidale signals on 102.7 (ABC Newsradio) & 103.5 (ABC Classic).
The usual suspects in at Boambee Headland. These were of note.
88.3 WS FM Camden. Weak and first logging there.
90.9 Gold Coast and Illawarra clashing
91.3 Campbelltown strong but no RDS
This is the log to match the video band scan posted yesterday - with north fainting antenna; power also listed.

NSW Coastal FM DX is looking hot over next 24-36 hours according to
Hepburn tropo maps.
Could also be possibilities for NZ fm dx from a coastal rx qth.
Heads up DX’ers, due to some maintenance works at the Studio tonight, Coast FM Gosford will be on TX back up audio from about 8pm - maybe midnight?
As a result, while the TX will be at full power, the audio will only be mono & no RDS & because there won’t be any audio processing either, there’s none of my processing tricks applied, to boost the signal & send it out strongly & further, so some of you might struggle, even with tropo to receive it & also you might get a chance to find some other station on 96.3 or adjacent frequency you normally wouldn’t.
Had some inland troppo last night. 4DDD Dalby was an unusual catch for me. Also had Middle Brother.
For me, the duct is from Port Macquarie down to Eden.
Nothing from Coffs Harbour though, which is a little unusual.
Had SWR FM 99.9 with a clear stable signal in the car driving around the inner suburbs of Newcastle and had a low level 103.9 Power FM from Eden up on the hill near my place.
Sydney very strong, Triple M totally dominant over News Radio Muswellbrook and with the Artarmon commercials hitting 55db on my Teccy at home, about the same as what I get with the local stations.
Im on the south coast this weekend (Bay and Basin area) and ditto that. Port to Eden received. No coffs. Middle brother and Eden are particularly strong. Bega 94.5 and 102.5 with RDS squashing Sydney.
