Newstalk Christchurch and 4LG mixing on 1098 again. 4LG seems to be the dominate one tonight.
As forecasted the tropo has arrived on day one of Spring, tonight at my location it is coming from the north. All Newcastle commercial fm stations and 2NUR. Triple M Newcastle the strongest but below RDS strength.
Newcastle Triple J / Classic fm at local strength.
Middle Bother really strong, even News Radio received weakly. Triple J over Coast fm in stereo. ABC local radio, and RN have no splatter from locals. ABC Classic in stereo too and as always the strongest signal from Middle Brother.
Newcastle has knocked out my Wollongong tv reception.
Wollongong ABCs are coming in better than Sydney at the moment.
Middle Brother ABCs a bit better than usual too.
Local Newcastle TV reception for me is still there, but signal quality is lower than usual.
It has now flipped around to the south.
Wollongong very strong, Power and Vox received with RDS. Music fm and Highlands fm at moderate strength in stereo, Pulse over Today’s Country and weak 2BA Batemans Bay.
Pity about the TCL on 91.6 as it is blocking 2ST.
Tonight’s Tropo. Similar to last night and this morning wifh Canberra and Batemans Bay ABC stations being stronger than usual with Canberra community stations being receivable. No sign of Middle Brother or Brown Mountain but weak Gosford community stations.
BTW @Ant5476 Its also all about the music (referring to Music FM’s Slogan)
@ozbark it looks like WS and KIIS are still at Gore Hill, 2DAY and 2MMM at Artarmon.
Thanks for that feedback. I looked early this afternoon at RDS & MPX of WSFM & KIIS but looked identical. I presume the change will happen soon…
Some co-channel interference this morning in Renmark. ABC radio Nhill 100.3 with a random station with music trying to play at the same time
Could be Flow FM Bordertown or alternatively the Power FM Murray Bridge repeater at Mt Barker.
My guess is Flow.
The other station is most likely ABC News Mildura, not Nhill.
Some inland tropo tonight as per the Hepburn forecast map
Eagle fm at times at moderate strengths with RDS decode.
Canberra in and out, News Radio, ABC Classic, SBS, 2XX, and even Mix 106.3.
102.3 is alternating between Classic Canberra and Triple J CWS.
Central Coast, Today’s Country and Coast fm with RDS decode. Rhema CC playing havoc with the signal of Power fm.
Weak 2BA on 103.5.
Triple M over 2ST and Hit over VOX.
Looks like Tropo will hang around until Saturday, starting off as inland and then going more coastal as the heat builds.
Yes, I’m getting tropo from the south and inland tonight
Canberra communities on 91.9 and 92.7
Eagle FM 93.5 with RDS
2ST 91.7
Power 94.9 weakly in a null of Rhema.
Wave FM clear with RDS
97.3 ABC Illawarra in cleanish stereo in null of Lake Macquarie FM
i98 in noisy stereo no RDS (hampered by News Radio).
South Coast ABCs on 101.9 and 103.5
Canberra ABCs 102.3 and 103.9
Orange ABCs on 102.7 and 104.3
Highland FM 107.1 in crackly stereo.
Most Sydney community stations also being received.
Edit: SBS 105.5 and MiX106.3 Canberra both received. Neither very strong though, but the music on MIX was listenable mono.
Tried for Canberra DAB, only got 1 bar out of 16 on the Sangean, didn’t get a lock (needs 4-5 bars to get station info and audio). Was dreaming of luxury bit rates for a moment!
Similar reception here (ex 103.5 2BA).
Also reception of 91.1, 91.9 & 92.7 Canberra.
Just managed to receive the RDS PI codes from ABC Classic & Triple J Canberra.
The RDS RT from ‘Todays Country 94.1’ has changed slightly from when I last received it.
The Tropo is always better in the Highlands.
Canberra DAB Strong, Canobolas ABCs and Hit 105.9 received. RDS on 91.9 Canberra. Roccy FM Young on 93.9, Hit Wagga on 93.1 and the best highlight from tonight.
Hit Griffith on 99.7 making its first appearance since I moved to Bowral. No ABCs from the MIA this time due to semi local Wollongong stations. Imagine if I still lived in Moss Vale with a better LOS to the West.
RDS on 91.9:
Up at 4am to go to work, Canberra booming into NW Sydney. Every fm station from Black Mountain receivable, some in stereo.
Eagle in stereo with RDS decode.
This is the strongest Canberra reception I have had so far with my setup.
I wonder if Canberra dab+ is getting into Newcastle?
I just did a quick check of FM on my Tecsun (much easier for a quick DX check since my DAB radios are run off mains and are back in the cupboard when not in use).
Canberra FMs here are about the same as six hours ago (weak but present), so DAB is highly unlikely to be received right now,
I would have tried on my work truck for Canberra Dab+ but got the one today with the aerial snapped off.
558 ABC Albany WA blasting into Melbourne this morning, I haven’t heard this one before. ID’d as ABC Perth and WA.
Not quite Albany, but Wagin. It’s a powerhouse, I’ve heard it here in Coffs Harbour.
Yes it gets out a fair way!
I’ve heard it in Cobar.
