Still 1458 isn’t much higher, and 1233 is 10kw, 1458 is only 2kw.

That was my experience as during the winter I would receive 1422 Melbourne, 1494 Albury, 1521 Deniliquin, 1530 Moree and 1566 Wangaratta. Although one time during a power outage in winter during the day, I also had very faint reception of Magic 1278 Melbourne.

Being adjacent to 1242 4AK might have something to do with it?

I wouldn’t have thought it was close enough to Toowoomba to cause splatter onto 1233.

4AK would probably be too weak to cause a problem. At that location possibly a harmonic of ABC 612 on 1224 might be an issue.

Ah yes, I remember getting that on 1224 in parts of Brisbane, so yes, that may explain the non appearance of 1233 on that log.

Other ‘missing’ stations are 2GF 1206 and even 2PM on 531 and 2KP 684. Also 4GM 1566

Residual skywave during the daytime in mid winter. Nothing unusual about that. Mainly affects 1400 kHz and up; distances of around 500-600 km are favoured. The Scumshine Coast to Newcastle falls right within this range.

Eskip happening in the middle of winter now!!!
Strong ABC fm with full RDS from Hobart being received in Stanhope Gardens.
Also 91.7 ABC Northern Tasmania,92.5 News Radio Launceston, and ABC Classic Luanceston.

Update at 3:43 NE Tasmania Launceston signals fading but Hobart Classic on 93.9 still received at times up to RDS levels.

Of interest ABC Classic fm Hobart uses a different RDS to Sydney, their’s is ABC CFM v Classic on 92.9 Sydney.

Well done! Thanks for letting us all know.
I read your message 5 minutes after your post.

I caught 93.9 7ABCFM with a brief bit of RDS.
Also caught 91.7 & 92.5 Launceston.
I suspect it ‘could’ have started after 2pm local from Ionogram Viewer for Norfolk Is & Hobart.

Last saw signs of carrier on SDR for 93.9 a few minutes ago, but essentially gone.

All Tassie eSkip signals have faded for me too, good while it lasted.

Sadly, I missed out on the opening. Had I caught it, 93.3 Launcestion would had been the first station i logged by both Tropo and E-Skip!

Update. It was quite a productive and long lasting opening. Still going now.

Wowzers, must’ve been some good e-skip around that’s for sure

For what it’s worth, Orbost is RSN and Renmark is RadioTAB.

Yes, Orbost seems the odd one out, though it’s on the way to Tassie of course. Great log. Don’t think I’ve ever heard a sign of that Flow FM outlet at Hallett.

I have when I was in the Barossa Valley in May 2019, so it’s been on air for a couple of years at least.

I’ll check out the recordings. I’m pretty sure I recorded the 107.5 station and it was commercial and all about SA.
