Mudgee has ABC Local Radio on 99.5 and ABC NewsRadio on 101.1. I dare say that’s what you were hearing.
Unusual there’s tropo down this way as there has been some fairly consistent storm activity this afternoon and evening. I’ve got the Sony unplugged as a result.
True, but several of these mine sites & remote locations have techs that don’t adhere to ACMA allocations. Lord Howe Island is or was also one such location that used even frequencies if I recall correctly.
In a motel in Adelaide CBD only on level 2 but got tropo from Spencer Gulf (Magic, Triple J and ABC Classic) as well as Flow FM from Maitland with RDS, none were received last week from a nearby hotel
Quite a bit of activity from the south coast tonight.
Mt Wandera 101.9, 103.5 and 105.1 ABCs PLUS Power 104.3 and 2EC 105.9 received. Can’t get News 100.5 in a null of 2RPH though or 2EAR 107.5 though.
ALL Brown Mt ABCs plus Power 102.5 received. No sign of 2EC on 94.5 though, and nothing from Eden either, was hoping for the new Power 103.9 but weak ABC News Canberra was there instead.
@dxnerd will be pleased to know Braidwood FM is being received, weak and in mono though reasonably clear with the radio in the right spot.
Oddly nothing from 2ST on 91.7 or 106.7 either, or 2BAB 92.7.
Meanwhile, down in Huskisson, I’m getting a fairly weak signal of the ABCs from Middle Brother. It was a bit stronger earlier though.
Also, it’s interesting to note that depending on how I orient the radio, I’m getting i98 & Wave just as strong (even stronger in parts) as the local Power FM at Huskisson, even though its meant to be transmitting at a lower power & antenna height than that of Power on the same direction. The Knights Hill towers can be seen from there after all.
Got 92.9 Tamworth in a null of Semi-Local 2ABCFM Sydney tonight along with Brown Mountain and Middle Brother ABCs plus 98.1 Muswellbrook and 97.9, 99.5 Coffs Harbour
Also got 2EC on 105.9 and 2EAR on 107.5
100.5 2RPH Kings Cross is currently open carrier at the moment.
There’s something underneath it, after notching the carrier, weak fading.
Very little tropo about. Suspect other signal could be 2RPH Newcastle or 2PNN Batemans Bay. UPDATE: It’s 2PNN Batemans Bay underneath
× The Bulga mine TXs seem to have pretty reasonable New England highway coverage now… listened to the cricket on 90.1 ABC Local from the Liddell Power station turnoff down to just north of Branxton, a distance of nearly 60km! Also clear and stable throughout Singleton. Not bad for a 40 watt TX that is 15km off the highway. It used to be when they first went to air that the signals would only last for a couple of kms on even the Golden Highway, which is much closer to Bulga.
× The Ravensworth mine TX on 94.9 is now transmitting ABC Local Radio, previously Power FM. 91.7 and 93.3 still Triple J and 2NM respectively. Signal not as good as the Bulga TXs.
× SBS Muswellbrook 107.7 now off air.
× Very little DX was present. Mt Cenn Cruaich ABCs were faint, nothing from Orange or Dubbo.
