AM and FM DX

I seem to be hearing “Vision Australia Radio Melbourne” on 1053 am, but sounds far too weak to be from Melbourne (I am in Melbourne) And what’s stranger is that I only ever hear 2CA on that frequency. I thought Vision Australia Melbourne is on 1179 am? I’m thinking it could be Brisbane?

Thanks, Well i’m stuffed if I know what it is, only stations that seem to be licenced on the ACMA map that I could find is 2CA, ABC SA and some other SA station. I couldn’t see Brisbane on the map.

my 1st FM Skip for the summer - noted brief music on 87.6 (on the XHDATA) at around 13:00. Also of note - the stereo FM pilot is back on 100.9 / 95.3 RN.

Been getting what sounds like ABC Radio National on 92.5 popping up briefly a couple of times in mono, over Music FM. Seams like SpE. Can’t find other activity on other frequencies so far.
Sydney ionosonde showing weak Es past couple of hours.

nice opening to Central / North QLD when I got home around 11am. FM from Emerald, Mackay & Townsville amongst other stuff. Heard a community FM on 99.5 which I mis-heard the ID also had weather forecast. Any ideas? possible it was Rebel FM.

Star FM 101.9 Mackay nice w/ RDS.

DXing out the front on my XHDATA portable

Today I received a station that I could not Identify. It’s probably an ABC Outlet judging by the tone of the content.

we’d need to know your location, what other stations were coming in at the time - that would help. If you’re in QLD for eg, it could have been Omeo VIC 99.7

The announcer is James Valentine from ABC Sydney (ABC Local Radio (Metro)). He normally is scheduled between something like 12.30 - 4pm M-F, although I heard him sign off recently at 3.30pm.
With ABC local radio in summer break broadcast schedule mode it is possible he is being broadcasted out to NSW or maybe to other states. But he’s always attached to ABC Local Radio.

Hope that helps a bit…

FM SpE finally arriving in Sydney. So far only 94.3 which I believe is 4PNN Townsville - very fleeting reception.

A bit of instability about tonight. Signals fading up and down quite a bit including Sydney and Wollongong as well as South Coast ABCs such as 2BA 103.5 Batemans Bay.

Unusually quiet FM DX over here on the West Coast so far this summer but nice sporadic E to SA today. This mornings log from Bunbury WA, heard 830 to 930 WST.

89.1 5BBB Barossa Valley
89.3 5EFM Victor Harbour
89.9 5CCC Port Lincoln
90.9 8SAT Maitland
91.5 5PNN Tumby Bay
91.9 5ADL Adelaide
92.7 5FBI Adelaide
101.5 5UV Adelaide
101.9 5ABCRN Tumby Bay
102.3 5ADD Adelaide
102.7 5PNN Spencer Gulf
103.1 5EBI Adelaide
103.3 5JJJ Steaky Bay
103.5 5JJJ Spencer Gulf N
103.9 5ABcFM Adelaide
104.3 5ABCFM Spencer Gulf N
104.7 5MMM Adelaide
105.5 5JJJ Adelaide
106.3 5SBSFM Adelaide
107.1 5SSA Adelaide
107.9 5RAM Adelaide

Strongest where ABCFM 103.9 and Triple M 104.7 Adelaide - full RDS decode. Both towering over local Bunbury community radio 103.7 on the spectrum waterfall. All short lasting though.
