So what you’re saying is the new amp has nothing to do with the reception and I can’t expect it to last?
I think you’re pulling my chain - LOL
There’s signs the SpE above Townsville is weakening atm. Good low noise amps can do wonders for reception with good filtering & in areas no close to powerful FM transmitters. Easier to test the amp out with fringe area FM stations when there’s no dx about. The amp may have given you the edge at the time of the dx only you would know with testing.
Did you ID the other station?
obtained permission to use a site just out of town & went out with 200m beverage aimed at 310DEG terminated with a 470ohm resistor. Heavy static made listening difficult. Rocky ground & long grass made it difficult to run out the antenna. Nearly stepped on a quail’s nest Bird got the shock of its life…
1386 JOJB with sign off & call sign in English. S9 strength
873 JOGB very fadey with only brief strong peaks over c/c 2GB
774 JOUB strong in the clear with 3LO off air
1350 unid Asian behind 2LF
1260 4MW briefly under the TAB with country music
1440 JOWF Japan u/ SBS Canberra
Good gosh the Aussies are strong…most ABCs are 40dB/S9
NOt yet.
Middle Brother ABC’s being received this morning.
TV.Cynic - I’ve received 95.2 from Numeralla & according to Alan Davies list, there is no 95.2 listed for West Papua. There is South & West Sulawesi - both have a 95.2
Thanks for that. I did translate a reference to a town in southern Sualawesi on the 95.2 transmission but had dismissed it as being too far (IIRC started with an M). I will check the recordings again.
I’ve identified the station on 95.2 as Radio R Indonesia Pro 1 at Merauke the same location as the 96.8. So program one and program two.
Hpon in town with no RDS.
does anyone have a link to an ABC list maintenance page?
the silly ABC help “search” page is useless because you can only search by location - so finding out which transmitters have a planned outing is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
great research. It means Merauke changed freq from 95.4 to 95.2 & I suspect 810khz has been turned off
There doesn’t appear to be a dedicated page for this anymore.
Only this search form
I looked too. That’s the conclusion I came too.
No doubt one could telephone the ABC & request a list periodically or they ‘might’ email you a spreadsheet or something - nuisance though.
I looked from the ABC reception pages & found errors in their frequency list for NSW.
but as I said, that search is useless - you’d need to sit there typing locations at random hoping to find something
89.7 2RES currently off air. Perhaps a dx opportunity on vacant channel later for local dxers?
ARVO UPDATE: They’re back on air.
Hobart into Brisbane now. ABC FM 93.9 strongest.
And Canberra Ionosonde showing SpE (21MHz), fits with Hobart/Qld FM dx via SpE.
DX skipping over Sydney, though had something briefly on a LPON channel.
WSPRNet also showing SpE Hobart/Darwin path.
5.42pm ADEST Update: Es over Canberra dropping, but Darwin SpE now rising, but dropped back minutes later - non event. Openings still brief.
Thanks for the update, getting my first eskip of the season. I briefly had 93.9 Classic Hobart fade up to stereo then faded out and then another station playing Blinding lights faded up. Could not ID the station. Lucky catch as all gone now.
I wonder if it was Bay FM Geelong. I once had it very strong in Sydney for less than a minute. To be expected with such a short hop. Just looked at their playlist and they don’t list it, at least in the most recent songs.
Nothing else in Tassie on 93.9 so hard to say what that was, unless it was just ROCCY FM via As.
1188khz Noted 2NZ off the air this morning & WOW! - Radio Free Asia South Korea with ID in English & program in Korean. Mixed with assumed China & occ. 6XM Exmouth.
1467 HLKN South Korea noted briefly mixed with Mildura.
1386 Japan noted with ok signal & “NHK” IDs
Conditions once again spoiled by heavy lightning static. Big storm cell near Newcastle being the culprit.
