Does Triple M use RDS there on its Stanthorpe translator? Interesting given its natively an AM ststion in that market.
In 2018/9, the Stanthorpe, Mt Marlay signals of 2TEN, Breeze and Rebel had RDS, perhaps SCA later with Triple M (4GR) and Hit and none for Super Radio Network.
4TAB are on HPON in town I think, no RDS. @4TAB-1008kHz may have more recent details if thereās been a change.
@tamago_otoko will have the 2020 observations.
@Shaun1997 The junctions of Curio Rd B84 and Thiele Hwy is about the highest ridge around Eudunda.
Many north/south ridges of the Flinders around there.
The Adel FM signals improve around west of Morgan, approaching Eudunda.
Fantastic coverage from Mt Lofty and the topography of SA surrounding it allows for a much wider coverage than the constraints of the Great Dividing Range on the eastern capitals or the Darling Scarp in WA.
I see @tamago_otoko is getting his Victorian weather fix on the Granite Belt.
@dxer2_2000 and I went to Mount Cooper (near Nimmitabel) this morning. Some video:
(s)hit 94.3 Warragul
Gold 98.3 Bairnsdale
7JJJ Launceston
3JJJ Melbourne
3ABCFM Melbourne
All correct in your points there. Rebel, Breeze, Ten FM and the two SCA stations have RDS, the rest do not. 93.1 is 4TAB in town (not from the mountain as I understand) with no RDS.
Iām sure Iāve made this point before, but with six commercial stations and one community station broadcasting into this town of 5,000 people, itās got to be one of the greatest number of radio choices per capita anywhere across the nation.

@Radiohead Is 92.9 3MBR Ouyen still on air?
I was looking at their Facebook page & there was a May 25th posting there to save
3MBR from closing down.
Is Mixx FM Swan Hill 107.7 & Kerang 98.7 still doing RDS?
Artist / Title info?
No, there was nothing on 92.9 in Ouyen.
Didnāt get 3MBR on 103.5 either, may not have been close enough to Murrayville to get it.
Yes, Mixx 107.7 and 98.7 have RDS but COVID safe message only at the moment.
Not a good year for Victorian community radio it seems, after the closure of 97.4 Foot-is-grey which was very surprising .
ArtSound in Canberra have steered into some choppy financial waters as well; they are still calling on listeners to support them. There seems to be a lot of automation on there.
Did a day trip down to Carrington Falls and Tree Tops yesterday so of course did some dxing on the Tucson car radio.
Firstly on the way down I went via Range Rd from Mittagong to Kangaloon. Unlike previous trips Snow fm did not cut over the top of SBS,
XL fm did not cut over the Edge 96.1 either. Maybe abit of Tropo was at play on previous trips. It was only 7āc and completely fogged in during the middle of the day.
The Robertson pie shop was quite a good spot for dxing. Here were some of the catches
89.9 Hawkesbury TCL
89.1 2BLU fm
91.3 C91.3 quite good across the highlands and into Robertson
91.7 2ST Jervis Bay
93.5 Eagle fm starting to get weak
102.9 2ST starting to get weak, 91.7 from Nowra will be stronger in Robertson then 102.9.
103.5 ABC local Radio Batemans Bay
104.3 Power fm
106.7 2ST Ulladulla
Most of the Sydney community radio stations could be received from this location.
All of the Nowra community fm stations could be received too.
At Knights Hill in the Tree Tops car park under the blow torches I could not receive 2ST on 91.7 or 102.9 at all , instead there were Spurs of Wave fm and i98 on these frequencies surprisingly there were no spurs of power fm on any frequencies considering power fm was at 50kW in the direction of the car park and the others were at 40KW. Eagle was now very weak. All the Sydney fm stations could be received quite well at Knights Hill.
Re Reception of Wave and i98 towards Bowral / Mittagong, it has improved greatly since they installed their new Broadcast arrays at Knights Hill. I had good signal until Bowral / Mittagong where the Gib obstructed the signal. Previously they would drop out at Burrawang.
Lastly went and saw a movie at the Blacktown drive in last night, they used 91.0 to broadcast the audio of the movie. Problem was News Radio from Wollongong at the drive in was so strong that it was causing slight co-channel interference to 91.0.
Now the dxing part how far does 91.0 go outside of the drive in??
I still had it in stereo in the centre of Blacktown, and some very faint signal on the ridge near the M7 on Sunnyholt Rd.
I could not find any information on ACMA for their transmissions but I am guessing about 1W. They also used 92.4 for the audio of the other movie but it did not carry as well as 91.0.
Theyāve used those frequencies forever at the drive in and yes 91.0 has been a problem ever since 90.9 started up. Particularly annoying on quiet parts of the movie, for that reason 91.0 is gone for me by the gate. As for how far it gets out, @dxnerd has the record on that one Iām pretty sure.
Yes it was very annoying in the quiet parts as you could hear it snipping away underneath.
What is his record??
I heard a faint signal from 91.0 from Oatley with my Yagi. I confirmed it over the phone with @matt86 . Not enough to tell what movie it was though and I think NewsRadio was on then, so the signal was also distorted as the Sony narrows its bandwidth for enhanced selectivity.
I have also had 91.6 from Randwick Racecourse; that was a lot stronger. There was a pop up drive-in there one year.
with our DX trip to Mt Cooper yesterday - even though we could receive ABC Classic 105.9 & Triple J 107.5 clear, there was no trace of SBS on 93.1 [wha???]. The videos we did came out very well until the battery died in my camera & I found that all the other batteries also were flat - even though I had charged them up ready to go.
Just arrived in Griffith via Hay, on the way to Wagga.
Just south of Griffith, could still get ABCs and commercials from Albury, Shepparton and Deniliquin, faint Bendigo too.
Wagga commercials and SW Slopes ABCs seem to be pretty decent here too, better than Griffith reception Iāve received in Wagga in the past.
Mildura ABCs were just hanging on about 60 kms east of Hay, now Orange ABCs are coming through on 101.9, 102.7 and 104.3.
Also had infrequent reception of Willans Hill ABCs from 200 ks west of Wagga. Not bad. Obviously hampered by Orange to the north, where in the past around Junee Orange could be heard instead of Willans Hill.
Was there a period of zero signal between Mildura and Orange/Wagga? A tribute to the power of āAgent Orangeā when the distance to Hay just outside Bathurst reads over 500 kmā¦,
I was able to hear the Blacktown Drive In at the southern end of Toongabbie where my wife used to live, and that is 2.5km away from the drive in.
I didnāt drive directly between them (went via Swan Hill and Deniliquin), so not sure.
But my guess is that, based on the above, there will be SOMETHING present from one or the other pretty much all the way across, even if itās only a weak signal.
Only caveat is that Willians Hill ABCs will make the Wagga to Narrandera stretch at least a no contest.
But I would like to do the drive right across the Hay Plains from Wagga to Mildura one day.
