Brock is a permanent fixtures at my place at Stanhope Gardens on the main hifi connected to the outdoor Omni fm antenna. However 2NSB and Brock battle it out on the car radio. If there is a clear LOS to the mountains Brock is received over 2NSB. If LOS is to the east 2NSB powers over Brock.
2NSB is still off the air and B-Rock is coming in fine here in southern Sydney on the car radio and on the Tecsun. I wonder what other receivable distant stations aren’t receivable in Sydney purely because of co-channelling
Looking at ACMA’s records, it’s only 10 kW and I’m about 135 km away – it sure reaches a great distance for a 10 kW station. I’m guess this is thanks to its elevation (about 1,250 m ASL).
I can’t get a signal of B-Rock here, although considering that Northside Radio 99.3 usually comes in quite well and the fact that I can usually barely get Move FM on 107.9 (except during times of temporary broadcasts, like now with the Voice Of Islam one that’s currently running) that’s probably not too surprising…
Anyway, according to their Facebook page Northside Radio 99.3 is currently off air due to transmitter issues.
Will have to keep my ear on that, it was on air yesterday arvo. Like ant, I get Brock fairly permanently anyway. On the car radio splatter from 99.1 ws is more of a hassle than 2NSB is for listening to Brock.
I’m picking up a new station on 88.0. The signal peaks towards Penrith with 2/3 bars on the Sony XDR. There are no announcements, just continuous music, mainly dance pop with female vocals. 80’s music was heard last night and early this morning- The Police, INXS etc.
At the moment, I’m experiencing some unusual tropo enhancement, with 2ABCRN Coonabarabran dominant on 107.9. We have the Voice of Islam broadcasting locally on 107.9 at the moment, and more strangely, there’s no hint of 2ICE Lithgow. Perhaps Lithgow is off the air or at reduced power?
Yes, I’ve noticed it about 15-20 minutes ago at a north-facing hill just north of Campbelltown through my parents’ Subaru Forester car radio, in which I’ve received the Mt Dowe stations quite well, including 97.5 2GGG & even 98.3 Now FM (weak but heardable). Not bad for the middle of winter!
This afternoon, I decided to go to Flagstaff Hill in Wollongong and conduct an FM bandscan using my car radio (as admittedly, I had nothing better to do). I am able to identify some of the stations, however with others, I might need your help. It is worth noting too that all of the frequencies listed below are individual stations.
