Es into Sydney at the moment:
Townsville E-Skip is strong enough here in Bowral to decode RDS on the Aldi Bedroom Radio. Not just the new push button TEF I got.
Apologies for the poor quality.
Edit: Funnily enough, it adjusted my radio clock back an hour to UTC+10
Nice!
Which model? Pic?
Be interested to hear your thoughts on it. That might be my next TEF potentially.
And so much for not wanting to buy online before Christmas, eh?
But seriously, glad you got it before your trip to the Gold Coast.. Iām heading up there tomorrow.
Here is a picture of it that I took as a test a few days ago when I got it, wasnāt going to reveal it until later on
Thanks, looks niceā¦
I note there were several people tuning on the Sydney TEF server - Iām curious what non-RDS stations you found.
Iām impressed thereās been a three day streak. Hopefully it keeps up and you get a five day run of Es ![]()
I did get some decent tropo favouring all Adelaide FMs and Bendigo ABCs this morning, the Adelaides were all logged. Aside from that not anything really noteworthy received here, no Es currently.
98.3 Innisfail. 97.9 West FM (RDS must be rather low level on that TX as no RDS decoded) & 95.9 Charters Towers. Perhaps 97.5 jjj Townsville North was in (unconfirmed) & 96.7 4ABCRN - I didnāt take notes.
I noted somebody at the time the Es was in on your Nth TVCL webserver kept on tuning to 89.5 with nothing heard. Iāve no idea what station they were trying to capture though, given the target Es zone.
Probably Triple J Sunshine Coast, might be THAT former member that had an obsession with it.
Youāre probably rightā¦
I saw 93.1 was in which sounded like an ABC talk station. 97.5 was likely Charters Towers ABC considering the strength of West FM 95.9.
Thereās been a problematic member lurking around on my server recently too. Would be good to see if it was the same user that was messing with TVCLs webserver. Iāve also noticed that someone has been sitting on the TVCL server and not tuning (likely to stop the auto logger) every single time an Es opening happens.
Staying in the city tonight and getting some surprising catches:
Albury ABC FMs
Swan hill ABC FMs
Edge 102.5 and 102.1
Launceston ABC FMs
King Island 88.5
Gold central Victoria
Didnāt expect any of this stuff in the city which is known to be bad for DX. Glad I took the TEF with me.
I have also noticed the same behaviour on my server, but luckily whenever thereās been Es openings Iāve been online to force the tuned in frequency to move on via the scan feature. For everyoneās sake, I hope I donāt have to start shutting off the tunnel connection to discourage it.
Intense troppo to CQ tonight in SEQ. Rockhampton, Gladstone commercials, TAB, Yeppoon. Also NNSW coming in including 2LM 104.3
Also receiving Loving Life 103.1 FM with a good signal -Grafton which seems to be missing from the latest ACMA list.
Update: Mackay now - ABC and commercial.
Not sure if they are on a TCBL; if so theyād be on the Excel spreadsheet under Temporary Licences, but not in the PDF.
Not listed under temp licences in the spreadsheet.
94.1 Cherbourg is also missing.
Cherbourg received again today mixing with 94.1 Gold Coast - looks like it will be a permanent at this location with north facing antenna. Signal level is about the same as Hitz Bundaberg but unsure what the level would be without Gold Coast station on air.
This is the licence registration for 94.1 Cherbourg
Do you get Crow FM all the time? That seems to be surprisingly hard to receive in Toad City.
Crow received only just barely in dead conditions. It shares the frequency with PNN Coffs which doesnāt help.
Takes tropo for me to get it. Coffs Harbour is almost semi-permanent on that frequency here, but can be overcome in the right conditions.
