Extreme brute force tropo right now, local joy 94.9 overtaken by JJJ 94.9 west vic
Apple FM 98.5 overtaken by mixx 98.5 (first time catch)
5GTR fm 100.1 getting fairly strong now, RDS might be possible
Auto logger also shows 88.9 Mixx FM decoded from Hamilton around 4am. A tough one to get over wyn FM.

Thought I may have some Tassie or Gippsland reception this morning but nup, nothing. Tropo levels are extremely low here with even Sydney quite weak at 900 m ASL.

Yes also received in Brisbane along with 90.0, 93.0
89.0 was in parallel to 90.0 but lower level at my location.

Even more tropo in Melbourne! What an eventful few days.
Lots of low Power ABCs at very high level now including 200w 100.5 ABC Devonport and 100w 103.3 ABC Waratah
Also got a first time catch of Tamar FM and ABC Northern Tasmania on 97.3 at 50W!!!

Hopefully there is some of that about in mid to late Jan as I’ve just booked a getaway at Cape Bridgewater (near Portland). Looks like it will be good for Tassie tropo. The cape lookout there is a great DX spot towards SA and WA so I’m hoping for some long haul stuff across the Bight.
Went up to Crookwell this morning and could hear Star 92.1 quite well on the peak of Redground Rd, 1000 m ASL just NW of town. Good reception was also noted south of Grabben Gullen. As it’s a strong westerly today I’m guessing this might be permanent reception in those spots. 106.5 Albury also good.

Has this long Haul tropo ever been logged in Melbourne? Seems like it should be possible, and I’ve seen videos of Victorian and Melbourne FMs very strong in WA. I’m just not really sure if the WA FMs are able to make the journey the other way across the Bight.

Probably Albany / Great Southern (since they are 50kw) is the most likely (I believe this has been logged in southern NSW before) and maybe Esperance?

Yes, mainly from the other end though. Melbourne has been received in both Bunbury and Perth via tropo at strong levels. The problem is channel blockage, though 92.1 is reasonably clear in Melbourne assuming Warrnambool takes a fade.
Did try for some MS Tonight and all I got is Hobart on 93.9 and an unknown talk station on that frequency (probably 5PNN Renmark). CHR station on 93.1 (Magic? As Wagga is too short for MS at my location).
On the Melbourne DX Server, some reverse FM DX via MS, 107.7 Goulburn.

Tropo up this morning from Bungendore Hill, mainly shorter range stuff. I do have Max 107.3 strong though, with a hint of 2RE poking through 2BRW. 91.5 Mount Moombil poking through Riverina. 99.5 is blocked by a very strong Move FM.
Lithgow is particularly strong with the elusive ABC NewsRadio on 91.3 finally showing its head. 107.9 is over 40 dB.
Also had 2RDJ on 88.1 with Good Morning Country.

Nice catches! Could you get RN on 92.1? I’ve had 91.3 here in nulls of Campbelltown but never been able to get 92.1 past 2MFM.
Nope, 2MFM too strong. Sydney was like a local signal up there this morning. NewsRadio 91.3 was fair strength at best; 92.1 RN is much weaker and you can even null it out to get 2MFM at Hassan’s Walls…a stones throw from the tx!
No sign of 89.7 TAB either which is the next best of the Lithgow town signals. You can at least hear that all the time from Oberon.
Just had some Es to NCL and Gympie/Cooloola (91.5) but that’s dropped out now.
