Noticed the dreaded FFF on Wow FM - 200w station in Adelaide
Currently receiving Wide Bay ABC Classic in Mildura
Had Hit 101.9 Maryborough trying to come through Triple J, as was 105.1 Rhema FM to Classic
Had a first for me today, RDS alternative frequency function on a DX signal. Had Nova 919 Adelaide on 99.1 from the Foothills translator, which threw me over to 91.9 when the signal got good. Then when I went up a hill and Sea FM started interfering, it threw me back to 99.1
Triple J and ABC Classic also threw me back to the local Brisbane stations when the DX ones faded.

Missed the opening but autologged 4RFM with rds
Certainly quite a reach, the logged / received stations all depended on what angle the receivers are relative to roughly north central NSW.
This was also the first time Iâve seen such a widespread of SE Queensland stations received on the TEF, and the first time Iâve seen Es favour that region in well over a decade.
Are those times UTC?
Have a great trip!
GMT +2.
Thanks!
Managed to hear 89.1 Port Augusta and the Broken Hill FMâers were strong into Coffs Harbour. Both areas are new loggings for me.
Seems like the NZ tropo has maybe started based on the forecast, nothing so far on any of the sydney webservers but ill keep an eye out.
I had something playing what might have been Maori music on 103.4⌠couldnât identify what it was.
Youâve likely got Niu Fm/pi Hamilton/Mt Te Aroha there, always one of the strongest stations via tropo into the West Island. Congrats. I donât think the duct will make it inland to here as there are no easterlies forecast until Sunday, when the tropo is all gone.
Maybe try a coastal lookout if you get the chance.
Checking back over the logs, it appears I have gotten a couple pings from Perth either by aircraft or meteor skip. Only ones to have been logged were 97.7 ABC Classic, 99.3 triple J and 96.9 SBS Radio. SBS is particularly interesting as it must have been a strong ping to override normally receivable Flow FM Merringur.
Nice catches! Iâd say considering you got all three around the same time, plus it was a very far distance for Ms, it was likely Es. Especially since it was strong enought to overpower other stations like 96.9 flow.
Thereâs DXers in Perth that hear Mt Gambier not infrequently by Es, wouldnât at all be surprised if Mildura-Perth was a doable range by single hop.
Probably helps when Mt Gambier is near the coast at the eastern end of the bight and pumps out 240kw in that direction.
Summer tropo favouring the west has well and truly arrived in Mildura. All high powered Adelaide stations are being received currently with good strength and most with RDS, except for the elusive Nova 919 as usual.
In the evening after sunset the tropo favours the south but progressively swings around to the west as the night goes on to sunrise.
Was down on the Central Coast last night, had a 9th floor hotel room with a south facing balcony at Gosford, some interesting FM observations.
There was quite a bit of variation between the Newcastle signals, Hit and MMM were around 18-20 dbuv (no RDS though), but I couldnât really get 2NUR or NEW FM at all. Rhema99.7 was there at a similar strength to Hit/MMM again no RDS. On 105.3 I did detect a weak HPON Wollongong, heard faint country music, thatâs the furthest north Iâve heard that.. Hit could be nulled out to hear 2VOX quite well (in stereo but again no RDS). ABC and JJJ were quite good, almost as strong as the Sydney ones (so about 38 dbuv vs about 41 dbuv)
Even though I was only 5km from the Central Coast transmitters, I had worse reception of their stations than I get at home, as I didnât have direct line of sight⌠There was enough obstruction for i98 to poke through under News Radio with partial RDS!
Similarly due to a lack of line of sight and comparatively low elevation, most Sydney signals were worse than I what I get at home too, 2MWM 88.7 was the only one that was noticeably better there.
Another one that intrigued me.. 88.9 was 2RE instead of Skid Row.
