AFL

I actually really like the idea.

Booooooo!

If you’re going to copy something, copy the draft lottery, not wildcard round.

Wait for the 19th/20th team, 9th/10th is at least a pass mark at that point, not right now.

Leave the game alone I say. Only the best 8 teams should earn the right to play finals, and the current system encourages teams to be more competitive towards the end of the home-and-away season given there are only 8 spots up for grabs.

Does Dillon have a clue about what he’s doing?

I’m probably a bit bias here as I like the idea. In Dillon’s defence it’s not his idea. It was used in the VFL competition.

I think we need to explore the finals campaign now we are looking at 19/20 teams. There needs to be a way to keep more than half the supporters invested in the game until round 24. We are lucky this year with 11 teams being in the race for the 8. But there are some seasons when the top 8 is basically finalised by round 16.

A top 6 and 4 wildcards keeps a lot more teams in it. Personally I would rather a top 8 and 4 wildcards but I will take this as well.

I would love to see this changed too. Or a playoff between the bottom four for draft picks.

They’re trialling it there, AFL decision.

Yeah but Dillon wasn’t in charge last year.

Much needed win by Sydney tonight, beating Collingwood by three points at the SCG, after suffering a 112-point thrashing at the hands of Port Adelaide last week. In Jeremy Home’s 250th game, the Pies led by 27 points early in the final term, but the Swans kicked five unanswered goals to grab the lead and held on till the final siren.

Sydney looked incredibly dangerous with all of their extra players in the last quarter.

26 free kicks to 15. What a fucking joke.

Only the AFL can make the NRL bunker look like the pinacle of sports adjucation.

As for Sydney’s DJ…

Look, I don’t hate the ‘goals after the siren’ thing. I don’t love it either, but I admit it can work when done well.

The person in charge tonight should be shot. My ears are still bleeding from the bass coming through from Seven’s crowd mics.

Apparently the current SCG set up isn’t the best.

I feel in every Friday night match there is an unprecedented amount of free kicks.

The West Coast Eagles have snatched victory over North Melbourne, beating by 5 points at Blundstone Arena, Hobart. The Eagles spoilt Jy Simpkin’s 150th milestone game. West Coast won in Hobart for the first time since July 2012.

And with the Swans and Giants now 1st and 2nd on the ladder, time for the Grand Final to be moved to Sydney!

Port still got a chance to be second if they win tonight though.

This year’s premiership race just took an interesting twist with GWS beating the Lions at The Gabba. Brisbane will drop to fourth regardless of the result of Fremantle-Geelong match.

I still like the idea of the grand final being at the team who places first home ground. But not in my life time.
