The opening round concept wasnât well received by all in traditional AFL states.

The AFL has banned recent Carlton signing Elijah Hollands for two matches and a suspended $5000 fine after he pleaded guilty to cocaine possession last month. He will miss the first two matches of 2024 - against Brisbane and Richmond - and wonât be able to play in the VFL during that period.
