The new angle, shot from a fan behind the goals, shows a clear gap between the ball and goal post for the entire trajectory of the kick, confirming beyond the shadow of a doubt that it should have been called a goal.

The ball and post are barely in the shot. Even if there was a review, like Marchbank last week it would be hard to conclusively overturn the soft call. On first watch last night, I thought there was a slight deviation as it passed the back of the padding, but seems other angles there was a gap.

The goal umpire involved in the controversial non-goal has been stood down by the AFL, and won’t officiate in this week’s final round, nor the finals.

As a former goal umpire myself, fair enough.

The goal umpire was well placed to make a call too - makes you wonder what he saw

Had there been say only 10 seconds left (or less) instead instead of 1 min 18 seconds when the mistake occurred, I wonder if they would have then overturned the result.

It would be awful if this had happened in a Grand Final.

What’s the point of posting this?

Background information.

Same umpire that made the call last night also was involved in the Josh Jenkins ‘poster’

So by posting his page you are bringing what to the conversation? Nothing except inciting negativity towards him.

He made the right call here, what do you hope to gain from posting this?

I have to wonder what he really did see , and whether there was some bias with that umpiring decision. Because from, what I saw that should have been a goal.

But nonetheless its done. We can all speculate but he only knows the truth. Good to see the decision to suspend him from the final series.

Nice to see Essendon get slaughtered last night :grinning:
While my cats got fucked by the Saints.

What an upset. A week after being flogged by Fremantle by 101 points, West Coast responded by beating Western Bulldogs by seven points in a rollercoaster battle at Marvel Stadium. It is only the Eagles’ third win of the year.

The result means the Bulldogs have now lost 4 of their 5 matches. They now must defeat Geelong at GMHBA Stadium this Saturday night, and need GWS to lose to Carlton on Sunday, to take the eighth and last finals spot.

However, St Kilda and Sydney can rest easy that they will play finals this year

It’s nice to see the eagles come back from such a belting last week/.

That will cost them the #1 pick though. Stupid.

The board will be pissed, even more so if they have already pre sacked Simmo.

On another note, who knows which way finals will go this year considering the performance of every club. Anyone could win lol I wouldn’t be placing bets on anyone.

I was a bit ominous about eagles today, but they’ve found a way to reverse from the heavy drubbing last week against freo. This will mean that north Melbourne will be on the verge of a third straight wooden spoon.
St Kilda have secured finals footy after beating Geelong by 33 points, ending Cats’ season.

That would mean Sydney is on finals too also I think?

Correct, Geelong were out of contention last night following the Saint’s win + the debacle in Adelaide.

Looking at the ladder, the only change (I think) to the Top 8 would be it the Dogs win, and GWS don’t.

Top 4 looks set, as long as Melbourne don’t bomb today and next week, and Carlton win both. That is probably likely so will wait and see!

Stupid? So you’re saying they shouldn’t have tried to win?
