Fremantle eventually won by 101 points, their fifth consecutive derby victory. After conceding the first two goals, the Dockers exploded, kicking 17 consecutive goals. The Eagles did not score another goal until early in the final quarter through Andrew Gaff, before adding one more after the final siren.
According to the AFL:
It was the Dockersâ biggest ever derby win, kicking their second-highest score in the WA rivalryâs history, with West Coast held to its lowest ever score against Fremantle. The final margin was only eclipsed by West Coastâs record 117-point win in round six, 2000.

Brisbane continued their recent good form at Marvel Stadium, defeating an injury-depleted Collingwood by 24 points at the venue tonight, 19.10 (124) to 15.10 (100). It was the Lionsâ sixth win in a row over the Pies. The Lions dominated most of the match, although the Pies had a brief fightback in the first part of the third quarter, cutting the margin to four points.
Brisbaneâs win means both teams now have the percentage of 123.2, with Collingwood only one win ahead, thus the battle for this yearâs minor premiership will come down to next weekâs final round. Collingwood will finish on the top spot if they triumph over Essendon at the MCG on Friday, but if the Pies lose, they will need St Kilda to beat the Lions at The Gabba on Saturday.

From this year there will be a prizemoney bonus. The AFL says the McClelland Trophy will be awarded to the team with the highest aggregate points across both the AFL and AFLW competitions and that $1 million prize money would be awarded to the winning team.

Carlton have qualified for the finals for the first time since 2013, by beating Gold Coast by four points at Heritage Bank Stadium this afternoon. Itâs Carltonâs ninth consecutive win for the 2023 season. The Suns led by 40 points early in the second quarter, before the Blues kicked six goals in a row to trail by just two points at half time. The Suns kicked three of the first four goals in the final term before the Blues surged again to take the lead.

The Giants have kept their finals hopes alive with a record breaking 126 point demolition over the Essendon Bombers at Giants Stadium. Jesse Hogan kicked 9 goals in the game. The Bombers finals hopes have been extinguished. The past two weeks, the Essendon Bombers escaped with close victories over West Coast and North Melbourne but today, they had a terrible day. As well, this was the worst loss under coach Brad Scott.

Just retired North Melbourne star Jack Ziebell spent the night in hospital after being attacked by a group of men outside a South Yarra bar. He only played his last AFL game in his teamâs loss to Richmond at the MCG in the afternoon.
