AFL

Interesting, although given the manufacturer has a logo on the waist,. I wouldn’t be shocked if those clubs will find a sponsor to appear under the collar as existing contracts come up.

I’m not an AFL fan , I don’t understand the game at all, most Queenslanders don’t.
I remember a former workmate,a former Melburnian of course, who follows North Melbourne. I always knew if they won the previous weekend because he would come to work on Monday wearing his North Melbourne shirt

You’re right in saying most Queenslanders - that doesn’t stop them filling the Gabba and screaming at all the wrong things…

There are a lot of Brisbane Lions fans, one wonders are most of them ex Victorians.

SANFL to be live-streamed on afl.com.au from this season onwards:

Another Good Friday stinker, just can it, nobody wants it

I forgot there was a game on until Kayo notified me about it.

I personally hold the day more special than Christmas Day, we just don’t need it, so materialistic and commercialised in a secular world. Can we just have one day of tranquillity, even many non-worshipers respect Good Friday, just to wind-down, reflect and be with family.

Nearly 50,000 at the stadium and the highest Marvel crowd since 2013 suggests otherwise. The game was actually very close until halfway through the third quarter.

That tells me a big club (Carlton), who have been down the bottom for an eternity but are finally showing something, had their passionate followers show up, regardless.

And I think the TV ratings in recent years have truly reflected it, they’ve been poor.

Yes, was being the operative word, the outcome it what matters and is remembered. So another flop there too.

Umpiring being the biggest flop of the day.

Please, you said nobody wants it. The crowd, no matter how passionate or not they are suggests there’s an appetite for footy on Good Friday. Again, biggest afl crowd at Marvel since 2013- blues fans could have done that last year when their team was on a roll but didn’t.

You also said it was a stinker of a game. The game itself wasn’t a stinker. It was a tight see-sawing contest for almost 3 quarters and enjoyable to watch as a neutral fan, yes the last quarter blew out but that happens.

Just having a quick look, I’d say that previous ratings were good considering it’s been a contest between two of the least crowd pulling clubs in the Bulldogs and North, not to mention how putrid and irrelevant North have been recently.

Quite obviously a lot of people want it based off the crowd, if you don’t like it then just don’t watch it. Simple

Swans v Power… As BT would say: “boy oh boy woweeeeeee” :exploding_head:

Incredible. Port lose that any other day of the week. They had no right to win that, haha. Wow.

Also, Seven screwed up their camera angle on the shot of the match AGAIN, just like Buddy’s 1000th last year, they need to can that camera position/angle or stop seating right there!

Happy to be proven wrong, but the previous few Good Fridays said the complete opposite (crowds/ratings/public feedback), so need to replicate this again and saw some social media posts/stats on this flying around today. The key: Carlton (AKA a big club is obviously a must), wonder if they’ll ask to me made North’s (who’s game it really is) permanent opponent?

I remember that in 2009, the day after St Kilda beat Geelong in the top of the table clash at Docklands, the front page of Herald Sun read: “Saints stand alone”. Tonight, it is happening again, with the Saints on top of the ladder, the only unbeaten team after Round 4.

Essendon up to No. 3 on the ladder (well until Melbourne defeat West Coast tonight), suddenly Anzac Day, Essendon vs Carlton, Carlton vs Collingwood looking like mouth watering and crucial matches. And GWS probably should’ve beaten both the Blues last week and the Bombers today.
