Bro actually take a look at yourself. IT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. WHY WOULD YOU HOST A FINAL THERE?

Whether the ground’s under construction or has a capacity of 100,000, a ‘home team’ in a final absolutely deserves to play it at their home ground. The idea is to reward the teams who’ve played best all season. Geelong have absolutely earnt the right to play their home final at GMHBA.

Geelong are 8-1 at GMHBA this season. It’s not fair to tell them to play their home final somewhere else.

Crowd attendance is not be all and end all. People can watch the game at home.

OMFG bro. They don’t let them host it there at capacity. Let alone half.

So who cares? If you come first you have a right to play at your home.

Stadiums under construction have played finals before - even the MCG.

I’m all for Geelong hosting a home final especially in the first or second week on the proviso they play all home games there throughout the season. If that proves detrimental to their membership base then they can choose to play some in Melbourne rather than be dictated to by the AFL which matches will be played at the MCG or Marvel.

As a supporter of a team who is often fixtured to play there, I’ve never had an issue attending any match I’ve wanted to there.

The Grand Final is played at the MCG.

The MCG must have 10 finals games (and the grand final every year) over a 5 year rolling period, so in order to meet that they move all of the Victorian games (well Melbourne clubs + Geelong) to the MCG to meet that

Geelong tend to only get to play at home in the finals if its against a non-Victorian club

Still think that they should just paint the MCG with the GMHBA lines.

Even if we drew freo, the ~22k capacity that they’ve been getting just isn’t good enough for finals. At least the timeslot means travel is a lot easier - the Thursday night finals were a joke for a ‘home’ Cats game.

And played in the fourth week. And contracted to be played there until 2059. If Geelong earn a home final in week one or two they ought to play it at Kardinia Park if they choose to.

Now that is just plain crazy.

Is he even interested?

No Sunday game in week one, that would mean no Sunday game(s) for the remainder of the year.

It’s been done before, although not as a one off. In 1997 the boundary was brought in at Waverley to be closer in size to the MCG and the Whitten Oval (for the farewell match) to meet the length (Whitten Oval was much narrower) of Princes Park where the Bulldogs then played

Well that’s not going to work. The goals would end up right at the fence.

GMHBA 170 metres long
MCG 160 metres long.

Sounds great for the fans. Do it.

Doesn’t look like he is staying. Another really big loss to the Gold Coast.

Yeah I do feel for them. They do need to work on that culture. There are some clubs that are really good at retaining their young talent. Port Adelaide is one of them. It’s early into their history and hopefully it’s something they can learn.
