Up by 22 points with 15mins left. So they might finally win after 17 consecutive losses

Now up by 46 points with 10mins left. Surely they can’t bottle this. Should be a win for them

Finally.

It was no ordinary win either. It was the largest blowout win since they beat West Coast by 50 points in round 11, 2023.

It was an astounding 65-point swing - largest since round 1, 2023 vs. Hawthorn (87 points).

Essendon’s two equal longest losing streaks of 17 games stood nearly 10 years apart.

They did equal it didn’t they? They avoided beating it

Ben King remains AFL’s leading goalscorer by a mile with the tally going up to 22.

His team was blown out by the Swans though, despite consistent attempts at reducing the deficit.

The Bulldogs reduced the margin to 21 points at three quarter time, before the Hawks broke away in the final term to win by 40.

Sydney are now on top of the ladder, followed by Fremantle, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs.

I don’t get it

There’s a clock on the rightmost side showing the duration since the Bulldogs last scored a goal.

They’ve conceded the game right then and there - you can’t be having that long of a goal drought and (expect a) win.

A Sydney-Hawthorn 2010s rematch is likely as the grand final ending the same way is possible the way thigns are going

I would have put western bulldogs in that contender too despite their belting they received.

I have discussed this on here before. I think I have cooled on it though. It’s a huge attraction for SA footy, not fair to really take it away from them he fans.

It would only ever happen if both teams made the Grand Final. As a viewer it’s great to watch but it would be hard to expect fans of both teams to head to the MCG to see the SA rivalry and I don’t think casual Melbourne fans would be racing out to go watch it.
