It used to happen more often- back when 3AW didn’t have a official ‘C’ team- they’d take 5AA or 6PR for later start games- like during split rounds.

They may not even go to the ground, calling it off monitors in Melbourne. I’d imagine there aren’t that many broadcast areas at Traeger Park after the TV take up their space (Unlike Marrara where I know Gold FM commentators one year when the Suns played the Bulldogs were sitting in an unused coaches box behind my broken seat).

ABC would be there anyway; Charlie King is based in NT, so he’d be at Traeger Park, i’d say a Melbourne guy or even someone from SA would go over.

Leigh Montagna is calling the Hawthorn v West Coast match for MMM today with Barry Denner, while Shane Mcinnes and Matt Granland are calling it for 6PR in Perth.

They were in Alice Springs. I’d imagine Aussie Rules to be very difficult to call from the TV broadcast.

AFL Nation has become a real mess, haven’t they? Not updating their commentary teams on the website for a fortnight and now they don’t differentiate on these when there’s 2 call teams. Whereas, SEN have gone the other way and generally put up commentary teams on their website either Mon or Tues.

Western Bulldogs v Melbourne, Etihad Stadium – Jimmy Bartel, Leigh Matthews, Tim Lane, Tony Leonard, Caroline Wilson and Tiff Cherry from midday.
Gold Coast Suns v Geelong Cats, Metricon Stadium – Tony Shaw, Bruce Eva, Nick Butler and Jacqui Reed from 4.30pm
Essendon v Richmond, Dreamtime at the ‘G – Matthew Lloyd, Daniel Harford, Shane McInnes, Matt Granland and Tom Morris from 7.20pm.

How many times does 3AW do 3 matches in a day?

3AW is sending a full team over to Gold Coast v Geelong, but MMM is using the local call team(Richard Champion, Sam Hargreaves, Barry Hall, and Belinda Mellen).

3AW does not broadcast the 4.35pm game on Saturday unless it involves at least one Victorian team (in this case Geelong).

MMM tends to broadcast the 4.35pm game on Saturday a lot.

Triple M pretty much broadcast every game.
I think they’ve covered 93 of 98 games in the first 11 rounds.
