ACE Radio (Regional)

Well some personal news, I have absolutely loved my time in Hamilton, this is such a beautiful place, however it's time to pack up and travel on the road a few hours away from here.
I have accepted a position as journalist with TRFM and Gold 1242, no official start date yet. pic.twitter.com/5IGytKU40U

I wonder who he is replacing in Gippsland. Greg Allen hasn’t been reading the news in Gippsland since last year. Tom English is currently reading and another journalist (and another Tom!) Tom Gannon regularly features.

Excellent observations @tonks8526, thanks for the detail.

The real jewels would be the Melbourne ACE stations surely?

To mark the occasion, 3NE will host a nine-and-a-half-hour outside broadcast from the doorstep of the station at 19 Templeton Street (on Wednesday, March 27).

Would be better if they worked on the future and identified an allocation to suggest to ACMA for FM conversion.

AM 1566 coverage is poor due to the DA array not in the direction of most population. Suffers badly in the hills and even as close as Chiltern, doesn’t work inside the motel.

Whilst travelling east on the Murray Valley Hwy towards Cobram this afternoon, heard 106.1 HPON Deniliquin is STILL 2QN.

I thought this was only meant to be a temporary arrangement but has been going on for 3-4 years now?

Report this to ACMA so they can sit around and not act upon it

I don’t think there’s much point me telling them, I wouldn’t be in a position to tell them whether it’s been fixed or not.

I can imagine their response: “tell someone who cares.” :joy:

I did not think the signal would travel to the Murray Valley Hwy. I thought it was low powered and did not cover much outside Deni

Well if you’re going to breach the point of a HPON you may as well exceed the power limits too.

I’m sure 106.1 is a placeholder for whenever 2QN gets an FM conversion in the future.

It’s 10kw, decent power, though a long way short of the 50kw that Edge 102.5 pumps out.

I heard somewhere that 3HA is on the to do list for FM conversion, can anyone confirm this?

There was a power outage at the Traralgon studios this morning and TRFM and Gold 1242 were running on the backup tape for a few hours.

Apparently there are big changes planned for both 2QN and 3NE when they eventually go to FM. Whether this involves major changes to both Edge stations remains to be seen or if it is a line in the sand time for the heritage AM brands. They might be looking to Mixx a few things up.

Yes that’s correct

Personally, I prefer the Edge name to the Mixx name.
If it was me, I would change all the Mixx stations to Edge FM and have a similar format to the ARN regional Hot AC stations. I find the current format on the ACE CHR stations are way to narrow for a regional area with only 2 stations.

@djpower how does 2QN and 3SH sound these days, do they still have a lot of talk back?
