Until I Kill You Episodes 3 and 4
Sunday 19 January 8.30pm
EPISODE 3 – HEALING
Having barely escaped with her life, Delia lies in a critical condition in hospital as police search for Sweeney. Delia slowly recovers, but Sweeney continues to evade capture. With her family in North America and no friends allowed to visit for security, Delia initially relies on her Family Liaison Officer, Jane Barker, for comfort – until she believes that even she has betrayed her.
Plagued by PTSD and nightmares, Delia nevertheless picks up the pieces of her life and moves to a new council flat. She meets David, a sweet man who sees past her prickly exterior, and finds some long overdue happiness. But when the news comes that Sweeney has finally been arrested and she must give evidence against him in court, her hard-won peace is shattered all over again.
EPISODE 4 – JUSTICE
Delia testifies against Sweeney in court. Instead of bringing peace with a guilty verdict, the trauma of the experience and Sweeney’s paltry sentence leaves her angrier than ever.
In the wake of the trial, Delia and David’s relationship breaks down, and Delia finds an outlet in angry letters to the police and Home Office complaining about her treatment and their failings in dealing with Sweeney.
Almost a decade later, police in Amsterdam make a remarkable discovery – they have finally identified Melissa Halstead’s body. As Sweeney’s parole date draws nearer, police in London must liaise with the Dutch force to put a case together and charge Sweeney with the murders of both Melissa and another young woman named Paula Fields. Delia’s evidence is crucial to a conviction, but will the terror of having to relive her experiences yet again finally push her beyond endurance?
